ideas for leftover stew other than pasta?
Hi everyone, next week I am planning on making a pepper beef stew (the recipe is from the Bocca cookbook, and involves a large amount of black peppercorns, both whole and crushed, tomatoes and diced beef, but I am planning on making it with a large silverside joint as a pot roast type thing) The sauce is delicious and so…

How long does chorizo keep?
Good evening lovely forumites. I bought a lump of chorizo on Sunday because I had seen a recipe for chilli chicken that I intend to cook on Saturday in my shiny new cast iron casserole ::yay:: But I didn't even think at the time that this would mean it will sit in the fridge for nearly a week. It was a piece off the deli…

Belvita Breakfast Biscuits
I wondered if anybody has tried to make these at home? I love them and bought loads when they were on offer, but I can't stomach paying full price. They really fill me up til lunch and don't leave me starving. I have lost a stone since I started eating them for breakfast rather than skipping it altogether! Does anybody…

How much to feed two adults a month?
How much do other couples spend on their groceries per month? For food, drinks and household sundries like toilet roll and cleaning products. My current budget is £150 but I want to reduce it to £120 but we're currently "in debt" to ourselves by £64 as we keep overspending.

Cooking Jacket Spud with a Metal Skewer
I saw this tip on Superscrimpers and wondered if it worked... We love oven-baked jacket spuds but they take ages to cook properly. The tip was that if you put a metal skewer straight through the spud before it goes in the oven, you can half the cooking time as the heat of the skewer helps to cook the potato from the…

Stardrops? Zoflora? safe for pets?
Someone kindly gave me a double level rabbit hutch for Charlie Russell, my DD's guinea pig whom I am looking after while she is doing 6 mos volunteer work in Colombia. I want to give it a good clean first. Stardrops and zoflora is all I have in the house - does anyone know if it's safe to use around pets?

Another white vinegar convert!
WOW! After trawling through here and hearing great things, I thought I would give it a go on my old enamel bath. We live in a hard water area and most limescale products can't be used on enamel. It's amazing! I honestly thought the only remedy would be a new bath. Genius! :j

Just been to Mr Ms and spotted 2 trays of Seville oranges - and was thrilled ;) to discover one tray was sell by 25 Jan. Because, of course, that's today's date... Pointed out the (almost) OOD stock to the SA sweeping up and said that if they were going to be reduced I'd like a couple of packs, please (there were about 10…

Cleaning pearls
I have a string of pearls passed down to me by my MIL. Recently the ones nearest the clasp have started to discolour a little I think because my (dyed) hair is always rubbing against them. Does anyone know how to get them back to their bright selves again please?

Mild chilli dipping sauce please
I have ended up with three bottles of sweet chilli dipping sauce that are just too hot for me. I guess I cannot cope with even a little bit of heat. Is there anything I can do to make it less spicy? I tried sieving out the flat white seeds to see if that helped (it didnt).

Bees anyone?
I'm not sure if this is the right place to post, but I've never yet asked a question that the OSers can't answer! DH and I are seriously considering getting some bees. We've been reading up on the subject and would really appreciate any advice from the beekeepers amongst you.
