Hi, this is the Daily Thread for 26th January. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.

When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.

Morning all
Pay day today & it's been a long month, we still have money on the bank & I shall transfer it to our savings account this evening.
DGD1 & DGD2 have birthday's today & tomorrow, they are 1 & 4 so I must buy their birthday cards today, no presents to buy, just money transferred to DD's account for clothes or shoes. DGD2 is too young to understand & I was given a My little Pony toy, brand new so will give that to DGD1.
Last nights lamb chops turned out to be rump steak ( really must label stuff before I freeze it, sausage & mash tonight.
It's time I had breakfast & more tea, the way this week is going I'm thinking of adding gin to my tea, still I don't due lunch duty today, so I will only have to get involved in incidents that happen out side my door & not walk round the playground looking for them!
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs Hester

  • Morning Hester and those to follow!

Yesterday was a hard day, Eliza had a growth spurt and fussed from 10am and was so hungry she wouldn't sleep! Lucky I had the day to myself and could tend to her needs. She finally slept properly at 7pm, and has only woken 3 times since then... she had some catching up to do on her sleep! I feel fine as I got sleep last night :D

Today I have to put on the WM and BM, tidy the house (so nice to be able to do this myself now). Eliza has a visitor this morning, then I have an after school run, and another visitor this afternoon.

Dinner today is LO Soup and Fresh Rolls :D

Hope everyone has a good day x
We spend money we don't have, on things that we don't need, to impress people we don't like. I don't and I'm happy!

  • Morning all, before and after!

    Gosh, it's cold this morning!

Had two spends yesterday - cold medication as planned and then my mum wanted out the house for a bit so we went for coffee and I bought some (needed) thermals. Finished a SANDS shawl in the evening and now have enough to post off once they've been through the wash.

Today is Errand Day as I have the car so will be running around. I'm not feeling very well though so am going to try and get done and return the car ASAP so I can snuggle up with my knitting once again. DW and WM are on, meals are planned, shopping list made and I'm killing time till it's time to go and collect the wheels.

Hope everyone has a good day.

    Morning all,

Work again today, busy time atm, which is good, dinner tonight will be egg chips and beans, nice and easy.

Must do a wash tonight and get that on the airer, also sainsbugs are delivering.

Mummysaver, nice to see you posting yesterday, its amazing the amount you get done with all your kids and a small baby in the house, :T dont know where you find time for gardening etc, We should call you wonderwoman :T

    Have good days all xx
  • Good morning Hester and JG and all who follow.
JG, glad you still managed to get a good sleep. Eliza has settled in well.
Raining here and really quite chilly.
I haven't been on here very much, been so busy. Sons GF is still in hospital. Hopefully coming out Friday. They are fairly certain that she has inflammatory bowel disease. Have to wait for the biopsy results to confirm this. She is on steroids through an iv, having injections in her stomach to stop her blood from clotting. She really has been through the mill, bless her.
Wm is on and have put a load on the airer.
Tea is sausage casserole and veg.
Hope everyone has a good day and hugs to those who need them.

    Morning everyone

Love and hugs to those that are having a hard/sad time at the moment x

Raining, windy and chilly here this morning. DH up and off to work at stupid early o'clock.

Dinner last night was "coq au vin", mash, cabbage, carrots and broccolli - no-one had room for dessert so plenty of victoria sponge left for today! Dinner tonight will be spag bol and HM bread - which I will be making shortly. Have all the normal household chores to do as I'm on days off now, so will be washing, drying and ironing, housework etc, will write shopping list too for tomorrow.

Pay day for me today, it's been a long month here too, had a bit extra too as worked New Years eve Sat morning.

Best go and get myself into gear.

Hugs to those that want/need them, keep safe and well x

    Morning All,

Not managed to post or read for a few days, combination of having my DB visiting and eldest laptop on the blink so mine keeps disappearing:mad:
DB is making soup from the chicken carcass leftover last night and its football for them this evening and SW for me. Pleased that I have managed to stick to my diet even with visitors so hoping for another loss tonight.
Have lots of ebaying to do so will get to that later just need to pop to the retail park as DB wants to do some shopping.
Looks like an ok day today so quick shower and then will get on.

Hope I've not missed too much, hugs were needed and will try and pop in again tomorrow.
    Have a good day all J x

    Morning everyone,

Hugs to all who are sad or poorly especially LW, Miffy, Molly, Beth, Lou and FSs DSs GF.

DD2s parents afternoon went really well yesterday. She is trying really hard and most teachers managed to resist the temptation to compare her to her brother and sister which was good.

I managed to get 4 tickets to Ed Sheeren yesterday so I am in favour with both my daughters.

DS has a chemistry exam this morning so fingers crossed for him.

Tonights tea is spaghetti bolognese, the mince is out defrosting.

    Have a lovely day everyone.:)
