Hi, this is the Daily Thread for 27th January. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.

When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.

Morning all
Frosty here this morning, so the car will need scraping before we set off.
TFI Friday, it's been a bit of a week this week, the boy who wanted to talk about his sweaty bits has been spoken to & denies all knowledge, he claims I'm lying & his mother agrees as he never lies!
Still when he's 18 & a !!!!less layabout it will be the schools fault, it always is.
It was payday yesterday so tomorrow I will get my pots & envelopes out & divide the money into them, I shall also more money accross into the savings account.
It's time I made another cuppa & made a start on breakfast.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs Hester

Morning Hester and all who follow,

Hope that you have a better day today Hester.

Quiet day today at work, I hope to get to the bottom of my marking pile before the next wave of marking comes in.

Apart from lots of netball and rugby I think we also have a quiet weekend. I will wait to see what happens.

Hugs to all in need especially LW, Molly, Bramble, MrsMix and Lou.

    Tea tonight is HM pizza.

    Have a lovely day everyone.:)
  • Morning all, before and after!

Yesterday was a spendy day as I had SlimmingWorld and then the grocery shop and it's just as well I did it (I wasn't feeling well and nearly wimped out) as the snow started not long after I'd returned the car and we've more forecast for today. But I am warm and snug and have food to last a week plus a 10-day emergency food supply stowed away in the larder.

I still have the cold so will be going for Level One on the FlyLady list and then settling down with my knitting. Oh - and I'll be making a Mushroom Stroganoff in the SC so the house will smell yummy!

Hope everyone else has a good day.

    Morning :)

Today I have the morning school run, I am actually showered and almost ready. Eliza is ready too. BM is on, need to put on WM and sort washing and tidy the house. Need to pop to the post office to check my postage, I am sending great-grandparents photos of Eliza. Yesterday her photos went up around the house it looks more homely now. She's two weeks old today... time flies...

This afternoon Eliza gets registered (at last... they only open weekdays and I have no car)

We are taking DS to his dads tonight, will pop in to say hi to mum, then seeing a friend for dinner.

Hope you all have a good day x
We spend money we don't have, on things that we don't need, to impress people we don't like. I don't and I'm happy!

    Morning all,

Cold here too, have out fire on for 10 mins. Work today, and then go and see dad on the way home, will take him, some kind of cake.

Chilli and rice for dinner, will make a good hot one.

Am giving blood today, so I shall have my little think about Molly while I am there.

More washing to do tonight, and a quick clear through.

Have good days all and Laura snow ????

    Morning all!

Sun is actually shining here today, which is nice!

dd1 and dd3 are at school, ds and dd2 at home today, ds is poorly, man flu methinks lol! dd4 has kindly shared her germs, she is somewhat snotty and sounds like Darth Vader breathing!

Today's plans involve the usual round of housework and washing, getting some ironing done, deep cleaning the kids' bathroom - how on earth they manage to get toothpaste on the walls and bubble bath on the blind is beyond me! Oh and clearing the hall table, everyone piles their junk on it, and it's in danger of toppling now lol!

Will also be doing some cooking, bought lots of ys mushrooms, so will be making pate, and slicing and freezing some, and making a biriani with the rest, though having read about NJL's stroganoff I quite fancy that now too!

Thank you RR and Tappers! You are both cheeky watnots ;) Superwoman indeedy lol!

I know both of these ladies in RL, and they are both well aware that I hate housework and do as little as poss, and that my small pink is not hard work at all, plus my other monkeys are at school and college usually so I have plenty of time to do things, esp since I'm still on maternity leave! So to anyone that might take my to do list too seriously and think I run around like a loon, I apologise, mostly I just potter hither and thither, doing all the stuff that everyone else does! My gardening the other day involved planting a rose, pulling a few weeds out of the raised beds, cursing the cats for leaving a couiple of pressies in them, and hacking down random bits of twiggy stuff with the shears as me and tiny pink went round the borders (all 10 yards of them!) - I'd hate anyone to imagine that I nipped out and gave the garden a quick makeoever in 10 mins in between conjuring up wonders in the kitchen, breastfeeding and Kim and Aggie-ing the house!

Right off to don my supersuit and stuff more things in the WM! Have a good day all xxx

Took a large bag of plums out of freezer to make plum crumble for the drop-in on Sunday but have just been donated 5 large loaves. Bread and butter pudding it is then. Plums back into freezer sharpish.

Cauliflower cheese for lunch here with various additions and a crusty roll. Weighed myself this morning. Big mistake. Bread and water and hair shirt from now on. Well, maybe not bread. Well just the odd crusty roll then.

MS: I still think you are wonderful. your gardening sounds like me on an energetic day. I am aghast at the amount you manage to do in a day. I once read that you should never stand when you could sit, and never sit when you could lie. I've followed that principle ever since, which goes some way to explaining my size and shape. Sigh..........
