Sewing? What tool do I need?
I'm not good at sewing but I'm having a go at making a cover for a futon. It was given to me via Freecycle in great condition but the original cover is cream and has some stains on it. I have some lovely Laura Ashley fabric to make a giant cushion cover, so it can be removed to be washed. I need to keep it in place once…

Food hygiene question
I made a tomato, red wine, herbs and stock liquid in which I braised lamb shanks. After eating the shanks it seemed a shame to throw away that wonderful liquid so I froze it to use it on the next lamb shanks. Today I defrosted it and cooked four more lamb shanks in it. Question -- can I freeze it again? I seem to remember…

Recipe Advice Please...
Hi I'm sorry if I've posted this in the wrong place... I have an American recipe for Marinara Sauce which calls for 1x 16 ounce can of tomatoes. This recipe yields 12 servings - but I've looked online and can't find a conversion to the equivalent in our size cans... I'm thinking that perhaps it will be 2 or 3 of our cans…

I've now received a lovely book with lots of project ideas, but they're all from the US & I'm finding it hard to get my head…

Woman's Own Cook Book (1964 edition) Anyone rec any good recipes from it?
I picked up an old copy of the Woman's Own Cook Book from the charity shop for 10p the other day. I don't think it has been used much, it's in very good condition except for the yellow pages, it is nearly 50 years old though so you have to expect that. It was worth it just to look at the pictures in there. Has anyone got…

Baking/Muffin Tins
Hi, Can anyone recommend a brand of baking tray and/or muffin and bun tin? I've just bought some of the Robert Dyas BOGOF trays, but after 1 use the non stick lining has come off. I made yorkshires at the weekend and all stuck to my tins, so I want to make sure I have good tins in for Christmas. I've been told…
