Do they use somehow dehydrated butter and egg? Can you find a link to one online and somehow might be able to help with ratios of the ingredients. I agree that they do look lovely, could be a really cute present with a little jar of sprinkles or something similar and you could decorate the jar for keeping cookies in.Living cheap in central London :rotfl:0

No, the person making them adds the egg and butter. Lots of recipes on google. (Try 'cookie mix in a jar')
I'm trying this one. http://www.bbcgoodfood.com/recipes/2920/christmas-muffin-mixScience adjusts its views based on what's observed.

There was a recipe in a booklet in Saturday's Daily Mail. Wish I was clever enough to copy it here but I'm not so will have to type it out in full. Here goes!
115g plain flour
Half tsp baking powder
Half tsp ground cinnamon
Quarter tsp salt
150g raisins
165g rolled oats
125g light brown sugar
1 vanilla pod
In a clean dry 750ml jar, layer up the ingredients in order, starting with flour. Tuck the vanilla pod inside or tie it around the lid with a gift tag after sealing the jar. Write the following on the gift tag:
To bake cookies (makes 20): Preheat oven to 180c/gas 4. Spoon the sugar into a mixing bowl with 115g softened butter. Split the vanilla pod, scrape the seeds, add them to the bowl, then beat all with an electric mixer till pale and fluffy. Mix in an egg. Empty in the rest of the jar, combine till smooth. Refrigerate for half an hour, then transfer tablespoons of it to a lined baking sheet. Flatten slightly, leaving room for them to spread. Bake for 10-12 minutes, until golden at the edges but soft in the middle. Leave on the baking sheet for 5 mins before transferring to a rack to cool.
Hope this helps. The picture in the booklet has 'EAT ME' written on the back of the gift tag which is a nice idea.0 -
You should be able to use any cookie recipe, just leave out any wet ingredients (butter, eggs, etc) and layer it into a pretty jar. Have seen the same for cakes/cupcakes and brownies as well. You may have to experiment with the quantities to get the right amount to fit in a jar though.
I like the look of the recipe above, might try it myself. But the jars I've seen often use vanilla sugar, instead of including an expensive pod if your recipe calls for vanilla. I sometimes use ground vanilla (you can get it on ebay) in my baking instead of extract as well.0 -
I did these fro gifts a couple fo years ago and they went down really well - I used the recvipe from bakerella.com for cowgirl biscuits.People seem not to see that their opinion of the world is also a confession of character.
