Craft - Zutter Bind-It-All

Please move this if there's a general craft thread somewhere - I couldn't find one.
I received one of these machines for Christmas last year but didn't use due to a bereavement around that time. I've now received a lovely book with lots of project ideas, but they're all from the US & I'm finding it hard to get my head round them [It's my age - another year older today!]
It looks a lovely, useful machine but I'm slightly irritated to have a piece of kit that didn't even have a starter pack with it. There is a dvd which I looked at when I got it, but not since. What I would really appreciate is someone advising me as to what would be a good idea to buy to get me started with it. Do I need all their chipboards etc, for instance, or just tools & Owires?
Help please! It seems a shame not to use it but I don't want to waste money on unnecessaries! And I think it'll have to be online purchasing 'cos I've seen nothing locally.

Well Preserved the only people I know who use one of these are people who scrapbook. Not sure what else you would use it for except making books/albums. Try www.UKscrappers.co.uk as they have a forum that may answer your questions.
Hope it was OK to post that link on here.Mortgage and Debt free but need to increase savings pot. :think:0 -
Thanks Ches, that looks useful.
I think you can use it to make things like small albums, recipe books, perpetual calendars, organisers, even 'coupon books' as well as scrapbooking. I think Flying Pig used it on the Christmas Forum last year but she hasn't posted much recently, which is partly why I wasn't sure where to raise it.
I think I need to get a tool set & a few wires & take it from there!
Thanks again!0 -
No idea, but I am incredibly jealous!0

I use mine quite a lot You dont have to use their board, I have used some beer mats, I was given, which i covered in paper. I have also bought a large sheet of mount board (£3), which is really good and solid.
I didn't have a dvd with mine, only a very small booklet, but it did give all the instructions. The error I have made the most is not to change the settings when you go from cover to inner, and made holes in the wrong place.
I dont have a tool set only the wires, and manage fine. Hope this helps0 -
Yes thank you sunshine01, that's very helpful! Also thank you to wen3. I think I shall just have to take the plunge & get on with it! I've used a book binding machine with a similar mechanism ( I think) before so should be ok once I get going.0
