So... I want to start eating half veggie food, for health and general well being feeling. Might help cost wise also. Not sure how to go about it. When we eat without meat now, I just tend to eat the same simple meals without meat in them. I bought some quorn products recently, that are made into meat substitutes and…

Removing labels
My son has recently picked up his new car. The dealer has put large advertising labels on the back window and also a smaller one on the windscreen. The one on the back window has been put over the heating element. We have tried to pick them off but they are stuck fast. Does anyone have any tips for removing them without…

Extra Tier for Steamer?
Apologies if this is in the wrong forum, but when I searched for "steamer" this is the only one that came up. I currently have a two-tier Tefal steamer, but I'm hoping to cook more in one go and store the left-overs for the following day. In order to do this I need a third tier on my steamer, but I can't seem to find one.…

Witch Hazel use by date
Does anyone know how long Distilled Witch Hazel is good for? The unopened bottles probably a long time but once opened? I'm talking about the commercial product, but I'm wondering because we always have kept it once opened in a cupboard for months/year or more, not in the fridge. This article talks about homemade - use…

How do you hem net curtains?
I have http://www.ikea.com/gb/en/catalog/products/10070262 at my bay window. They reach the floor and look daft, so how do I cut and hem them so they are neat and tidy. I know ikea say just cut but I've seen that done and don't like it. Don't mind hand or machine stitching, iron on double sided tape stuff or any other…

Help! Major loo disaster
OK, so in a fit of excess enthusiasm I decided to tackle the really horrid limescale stains on the interior of the loo bowl and which have been there since I moved in. Dealing with creased/crumpled jacket?
I've recently invested in some very good quality jackets for my new job (including one of this season's Hobbs jackets which I found in mint condition in a charity shop for £8 :j) The trouble is that I find that the sleaves in particular get very creased/crumpled by the end of the day. I don't want to iron the sleaves all…

Pressure cooker and chicken stock
On thursday (it's Sat today) I made some chicken stock in my pressure cooker, and since then have been too busy to do anything with it. I have not opened the cooker, so it's all still sealed in - am I right in thinking that as long as I haven't opened it it will still be OK as the inside must be sterile ? It hasn't been in…

I do love lakeland but this was laughable... http://www.lakeland.co.uk/15185/Lakeland-Stainless-Steel-Chip-Pan £44 for a chip pan. I know it is shiny and new but honestly it just looked like the chip pan my mom had when I was a kid. I guess they'll get buyers. I am sure the local iron mongers have them for £8
