Pineapple and mixed berries?
My brother wraps pineapple in foil and bakes it. While it's cooking he simmers some frozen mixed berries then pours it over the pineapple when it's cooked. Sounds lovely to me. But being a tightwad I thought I'd try and invent a different way of cooking it, in one pan maybe. So tomorrow I'm going to cook the pineapple in…

anyone tried using veg oil instead of marg in baking? I know that muffins are made with veg oil. At least my recipe has oil. what about fruit cakes etc. Could you do a fruit cake with just veg oil? I sometimes wonder what exactly the difference between a big muffin and a sponge cake would be anyway? I doubt you'd be able…

Does anyone here keep pigs?
Hubby's thinking about getting a couple of weaners to grow on and I was wondering if anyone here has kept pigs. I'm not sure how I feel about it to be honest. I don't eat meat and as I'll be the one doing most of the work looking after them, (as I'm at home all day) I know I'll get attached to them.

Machine Washing
A neighbour of mine commented this morning how my sheets are always beautiful and white she wanted to know what laundry product I used - and it was the same as hers. This is not rocket science stuff, but to her it felt like it was because her whites go to grey. The problem was she was doing three washes a week and sorting…

Jewish cookery - ideas and know how please.
I watched the programme last night on the kosher jewish community in Manchester - I thought it was really interesting. As typical for me I am movitivated to find out recipies. I am tempted to get a cook book. I thought I'd ask the board for their favorite recipes and any know how. Chicken soup is a good starter - I know…

Quick & easy jerk pork/chicken
Quick & easy jerk pork/chicken I had some pork chops yesterday which I coated (fairly heavily) in Asda Jerk seasoning & put on a hot Georgie. Let it cook a while, then squirted some Reggae Reggae jerk sauce & smeared it around with the back of a spoon, then turned them & did the same on the reverse. Served it with salad…
