Hi, this is the Daily Thread for Thursday 14th July. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the
Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.

When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.

Morning all
Hubby's been dropped at the station with his packup, breakfast eaten, fish fed & washing on the line.
I'm spending a fortune at work this week, the students are fundraising so are coming round with pizza, pasta, cakes & cookies, I don't like to refuse as they have all worked hard. Yesterday I had my car cleaned inside & out for £3, they did a good job & were delighted when I let them move my car across the playground (the student does have a driving licence & they moved it all of 10 mtrs).
I babysat last night for the DGS who were all asleep, so I didn't see them at all, I sat & read for the 2 hours I was there.
Lamb chops for tea tonight with HG new potatoes, runner beans & carrots.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs Hester

Good morning HH and all to follow.
It is a beautiful mornng here - bright and fresh. Will get a wash on and get it out before I go.

Dinner tonight will be spaghetti and meatballs. We need to eat early, so probably DD, SIL & 3DGSs will stay on and join us.

Have a good Thursday folks. Hugs as and when needed or wanted.
    Cheers, Silver x

Morning Hester, Silver and all who follow,

Lovely and sunny here this morning, WM nearly finished so will be pegging out the washing in a minute.

DD2s play was lovely last night, it was really funny and the children obviously had a good time putting it on. I can't believe that my youngest is almost at secondary school, where did the last 11 years go?

Tonight I am off out again, 4 nights in a row! Anyone would think that I was a student again. I am going out for a meal with my department from school as one of them is leaving to move to Abu Dhabi next week.

Tea for everyone else will be sausages in HM barbecue sauce and HM wedges.

Heard yesterday that DD1 has passed her violin exam and DD2 has passed her clarinet exam-hooray:D

Hugs to everyone who needs them.

    Have a lovely day everyone.:)

Lovely sunny morning here. Have painters coming at 8am to do windows so I'm glad of the sunshine.
Out yesterday with DD and DS and sat outside a pub drinking chilled wine. How fab. DD's OH came and met us after he'd finished work so we sat and drank some more. My face is a bit sunburnt today although I was mostly in the shade.
Some freezer surprise for tea tonight as I am emptying it. Some meals have labels, others don't so we'll see what we get.
Need to get some milk and more fruit but have been doing well with the grocery challenge this month so far.
Have a good day folks and (((hugs))) to those having a difficult time.

Morning Hester & all who cross/follow.
Up & about early today as couldn't sleep, so have two loaves rising on the side & peanut butter cookies in the oven. WM is on with a hot wash of towels, tea towels & flannels so am hoping it is ggoing to brighten up later, not just for me but for the golf as well.
Knitting group today & I have almost finished DP's jacket :j just the button & pocket bands to go, am hoping to finish it by Sunday (CTS permitting) as we are going to a family lunch & he wants to show it off :o
Dinner tonight will be something quick n easy from meal plan possibly stirfry using hg veg & whoopsied beef as I know I will be tired later.
Have to post DN's birthday pressie today & get a card for my sister as she graduated yesterday :T
Am just going to toddle off & get some coffee & then write a list of jobs for DS as he is teading a fine line between laziness & downright defiance at the moment which is causing problems for everyone else in the family :(
Hugs, spoons & hi5's where required.

Good Morning chums well another year has gone and its eight years since I lost my lovely OH but so much has happened since then, some good, some not so good, but we have all survived which is the main thing.Today as usual I will be busy flying around here and there and keeping occupied but will still take some time to reflect on different things. How my grandchildren have grown and how he would have been so proud of them .The eldest settled in a job he loves and slowly climbing up his career ladder. The next two have just left college, and one is off to Uni in September. The forth one has shot up and is taller than his Mum now and has developed a lot of his granddads pastimes ,fishing playing his guitar ect.The three youngest are happy noisy little boys who would I know bring a smile to his face. Our two girls are healthy happy industious souls who are a great legacy to his outlook on life which was to love your family and laugh at the daft bits in life.I shall always miss him, but looking at the tribe left behind there is so much of him still around. So today will be a day of being glad I knew him for so long, and sad he is gone, but happy at all the things left behind ,not a bad eptitaph for a very nice man
Right time to get a wriggle on as life does go on for all of us,school runs to get done and all the mundane bits of our lives that have to be fitted in.
Have a good day everyone, whatever you may be doing, and take time to tell your loved ones how much you care even if you are cross with them for some reason.

Well done to the 2 Moorchicks - violin and clarinet are both difficult instruments to start:T:T
Jax - H xope DS sees sense very soon

JackieO - Megahugs to you today. Hope you have lots of hugs from your lovely family. My own precious dad predeceased my lovely mum by 28 years. Although she never "got over it" she rallied on and was able to dote on 4 further grandchildren and all the great GC, who all adored her in turn. My thoughts are with you.

    Morning Hester and everyone else

JackieO - Can't believe another year has gone, doesn't feel that long since you said it was 7 years! I'm sure a bit of him, somewhere, knows how you're doing and is proud of all the family xo.

Got doctor's appt after taking DS to nursery school, to get results of some bllod tests, etc., then have to do a bit of shopping. WI tonight and we're doing a sort of "Come dine with me" thing - only decided at the last minute what to make (roasted tomato & goats' cheese tart, HM bread and HM bramble jam) so need to get the tomatoes and cheese.

Eldest DS in major financial trouble, got to within 2 weeks of losing house, loads of silly loan companies etc after him for non-payment of debts...! Haven't known whether to shout or cry (but spent many nights crying by self with DH). His wages going into my bank, so giving him handouts every few days to try to stop silly spending. Says he's getting a grip with creditors, but still angry with him for letting things get so far. [None of my smileys working - imagine very angry/upset faces throughout!]

Sorry, rant over! It's sunny here for now, so going to have a pleasant morning, hope you all do the same. Hugs and kisses for all.

    A xo

    Good Morning All

    (((JackieO)))

Am such a sporadic poster now :( honestly do not know where the time goes.

Think will be easier once school has closed, DS really slows down at the end of term and is a nightmare every morning to get out of bed.

Anyway here I am, weather here is really cold but dry at the moment. House is reasonably tidy but not great, ironing pile is small :j and have been good cooking every night.

Today will mainly be an office day, couple loads of washing will hopefully get done and just essential housework. Have 2 full days work out of the house tomorrow and Saturday so would be nice to get lots done round the house today but will have to see. Am having a very tired week, am sleeping ok but still feel tired all the time :o

Hope everyone is doing ok, no major news here (no news is good news).

Well off now to put the kettle on again. Have a great day everyone.x

Cheapskate - really empathise with your troubles with your eldest son. Last year we had very similar issues with our DS1 and it was and still is mega stressful.
Hester - hope your DS is doing ok
Redruby - hope your cold is better x

Really sorry if I missed everyone x

Hopefully I have about three weeks respite from my pain so am going to make the most of it. I have already been up and at them with regards to sorting out the kitchen and pottering in the garden. I have loads of washing to get through and hopefully (fingers crossed tightly) my cleaner is here today:T:T:T

Later Im off out with Mooloo for a mooch around the local antiques/ bric-a-brac and a slice of cake/ cuppa.

    Hugs x
