Cut and Come Again Cake
Hi, years ago, my Nana used to make a "cut and come again" cake. It was a throw it all in type of mix and used a jar of fruit mincemeat instead of dried fruit. She used to bake it in a roasting tin, there were a lot of us, so I presume that she had scaled up her recipe. My mum did have a copy of the recipe, but can no…

sandwich fillers that can be frozen
hi everyone , I was just wondering would it be a good idea to cook a pork joint in the oven, then slice it up and freeze . Then take them out as needed for sandwiches ? or is this dangerous ? Also any other ideas for saving money making sandwich fillers much appreciated. many thanks for reading.

How long will spices keep?
I have done a search but can never find anything on this board! I rarely cook sweet stuff, so my 'baking cupboard' is full of ancient jars of ginger, mixed spice, etc., dating mostly from years ago with best before dates of 2000 and 2003! I'm guessing I need to throw these out but wanted to check first in case I can save…

Old Style Remedies
I've just been thinking following DD being stung by a bee! Are there any old style tricks to treating them - I didn't have to the remove the sting as it wasn't in there. I've washed it with soap and water, she won't sit still long enough to apply a cold compress (as advised by NHS Direct). She seems happy enough munching…

Can any expert sewers help?
I am cursed with being only five foot tall. Although the height itself doesn't bother me, it makes buying clothes a nightmare. Ive just ordered some petite clothes from Next and two of them are quite pretty t-shirts. I want to keep them as they fit nicely. The only trouble is that I could do with the straps over my…

How to store cake??
I've decided to try my hand at baking, and am about to make a lemon drizzle cake. This might be a daft question, but as the filling contains mascarpone, does this mean I will have to store the cake in the fridge? Will that make the sponge go funny?

Lemon

Gordon Ramseys Lasagne - Help!
OK, I'm hoping some of you fabulous people can help me here....In true moneysaving fashion I brought 3 balls mozzarella that were whoopsied. In the back of my mind, I remembered recently watching Gorden Ramsey make a lasagne (I think it was on Kitchen Nightmares) where instead of making up a bechemel sauce, he tore pieces…

Recommend a cheap food processor?
Hello :) I've never used/had a food processor before but all family and friends harp on about how good it is for whipping up batches of cake mixture and pastry etc however they all own really expensive ones and I can't justify spending loads! I've been unexpectedly thrown into having to provide a lunch buffet for 10 (Incl children) this weekend.
