Hi, this is the Daily Thread for Wednesday 27 May. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.
Good morning. Up with the larks at 5am courtesy of DD.
Have just hung a load of washing out. May be the earliest I've ever done it. Sun's not up properly so garden was a wee bit chilly in just my nightie  good job the neighbours aren't up. Might give them a fright!!!
Got friends and their children (there will be 8 children and 4 adults in total) coming round this afternoon so might go and bake some hobnobs in a mo. Its something I can make without getting the electric whisks out. Will also make some fairy cakes but leave that until everyone else is in the land of the living.
Got to clear away the drying up from last night. Not very Flylady but I was too tired
Going to make myself a coffee and settle down to watch the final episode of ER before DS appears demanding that Milkshake be put on for him. DD is only a baby so she hasn't learnt how to complain yet
Not sure what's for tea. H is working late this evening so might just snaffle something easy from the freezer. Ham and lentil ragout was quite nice, even without the proper seasoning
Anyway off for my coffee. need the caffeine to stay awake zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
Have a good day all. Looks like another hot one

Morning.
Thanks for starting it.....
Last day and then 5 days off. Looks like the sun will come out today and stay a while.
Work is slowing down which was nice, the pace of the start of the week left most people drained.
Not sure what is planned for the weekend. I need to make some new space for the chickens and get rid of a mole again.
Elderly neighbour died yesterday, which was quite sad. We had a lot of good conversations over the wall, even if I had heard the story before, several times. He will be missed.
Well folks have a good day...NO to pasty tax We won!!!! Just shows that people power works! Don't be apathetic to your cause!0 -
Good morning, Bitsy, and all who follow. A lovely sunny start to the day here. I've just been out in the garden, watered my toms and lettuces, and put some food on the bird table. It feels really warm already. The forecast here is for a good weekend with lots of sun. We have the Fete de Pentocote on here this weekend, so we'll be going along to that at some point. The whole of the town centre has been set up for it, so it's obviously a big event here. It's the first time we've been here for that. I must remember to take the camera. We are also helping our friends with their quiz night tomorrow night; that's usually fun with the wine flowing freely!
Dinner tonight is an omelette with salad and chips. I have loads of eggs I want to use up, so that will take care of some of them.
Anyway, I'm off to put the kettle on.
Hope you all have a good day.
Redruby - I haven't forgotten about putting some photos up on FB - will try and get round to it soon!

Good morning
Another beautiful day here as well, am working though so won't see much of it.
Today's dinner is easy - am using yesterday's corned beef dish as no-one touched it, DD1 went out to eat and OH finished his packed lunch at 5pm and wasn't hungry!
Washing already on. Am planning a decluttering weekend as OH will be away.
Have a good day everyone, hope all is well, ((((hugs)))) if not.

Be very wary. Its extremely easy to spend over £100 in one shop. Not everything is cheaper just because it's in bulk. Definately don't think the booze is. However I can highly recommend their meat. Their chicken breasts aren't pumped full of water, they sell large packs of skinless and boneless chicken thighs (yay now I don't have to do it!) and their beef is delicious!
Just remember to check the price INCLUDING VAT as this isn't the largest figure displayed on their price labels.

Morning to all, I am off to work today, not looking forward to it as the manager is still unpleasant to me, yesterday it appears I was incapable of piling black bags of rubbish up. This despite the fact that when I was on my own last week I managed perfectly well!!! I did have a small chuckle to myself when the pile fell down but I of course had to pile it back up!!!! That was just one of many instances yesterday.
I am keeping a record now, I am writing it down in a form of a story so that it helps release some of the pent up frustration while keeping a record of all the petty and bullying stuff. I am very grateful for all the advice you have all given me.
OH has taken the week off for childcare and today they have gone to visit family in Staffs. So will take the opportunity to do no cooking tonight, will have a sandwich or something.
Not much OS today as not home but I am taking my own lunch - this amuses the manager!
Sorry about your neighbour N9eav.
Hugs to all who need them, enjoy the sun all who can, commiserations to all like me that will not see it today.

Hi Bitsy Beans - no vat on food, but I know what you mean about Costco and other such places, often cheaper in supermarkets but I used them a lot when we had a housefull of children and their partners. At one time we had 11 of us living in the house and the large packs of loo roll, washing powder and breakfast cereal was a god send!

Morning all :hello:
Very warm here this morning. My garden doesn't get the sun until midday and it's already 25 degrees in the greenhouse. It will be lovely to have some warmweather this weekend. I don't know who needs it more, me or the plants.
Lost of errands to run today. I have printing to do in the office, cheques to bank, letters to post and boots to leave in to be resoled. I want to tidy up the pots at the front door as a friend bought me some bedding plants as a thankyou for the baking I did last week so I will lift the tulip bulbs and replace them with those. Talking of baking, I didn't manage any yesterday so as soon as the girlies have gone to school I'll do a lemon loaf cake and some scones for our visitors this afternoon. House then needs a tidy through and ironing to put away.
Tea will be something simple like steak and salad as it's just me and OH tonight.
Thinking of everyone who's having a rough time.

:hello:Morning all!
An early visit from me today - it's DS's birthday (24) and he's getting ready for work so i thought one of us should get up to wish him a happy birthday :A
Nothing particular planned for the day yet, except that a dark washload will be done at some point
As for dinner, there are some nice sausages in the freezer so will probably do something with those. DS is meant to be going to TGI Friday's for lunch with work (the company he works for consists of the boss, the boss's husband, and DS!) so he may not even want any!
Sorry this is such an uninspiring post, brain's not switched on yet
but ((((HUGS)))) to all in need, especially MSD whom I think must have had bad news, and Penny_Pincher.
Oh and Nelski - Thanks for the pic
Hope everyone has as good a day as poss.0
