    Evening everybody :)

I haven't had a chance to read any of the thread yet and I do hope everybody's OK.

OH had the day off today so we went to the Imperial War Museum at Duxford (aircraft). I love it there, my favourite plane is the Lancaster. Today while I was admiring it I was lucky enough to be chatting to an elderly gentleman who had been a gunner on one- what a privilege to talk to him.

We all enjoyed the day and the weather was so lovely too. I did a bit of shopping in the gift shop which has plenty of goodies for anyone interested in the home front (like me:D). I bought this book , some postcards of wartime posters and this lovely bookwhich is great big book chock full of fab photos of wartime posters, magazine covers, food tins, recipe books etc.

Not a very money-saving day but at least we took a picnic and the kids got in free.

so hard isnt it for them to find a saturday job, when she is fifteen will that make her 'employable'?
my DD who is 15 was really lucky as she did gymnastics to a high level and now she has stopped, she has done a coaching course and works at her old club 4 times a week she earns about £50 a week .:T
:TI know some of her school friends work as waitresses , in shops so maybe very soon she will be able to get something. does she have a talent she could teach? like dancing? good luck to her, it does them so much good when they are earning :D

thanks hun, she is very good at french, and swimming, but not sure anyone would employ a 14 year old to do that  we will keep trying, I am sooo proud of her for trying though :T

If she's anything like her lovely Mum, it is no wonder you are proud. ;)

The in laws have gone and they've taken the children with them to stay the night. :D I've packed OH off to the park with the pup as they were playing ball in the garden and my greenhouse was about to be smashed. So it's just me, the lappy and a bottle of wine in the garden. :D

Ended up making carrot cake today to use up some wobbly carrots and scones and HM jam. I think they went down well.
I am loaded with a head cold and couldn't face going out so made smoked salmon with craime fraiche and chive dressing for a starter, rib eye steak with mash and salad and strawberries and cream for pud. Quite expensive but even with the wine it came to a quarter of what we would have paid in a restaurant. :money:

Another beautiful day forecast so am hoping to get to the beach with the pup first thing and then relax in the garden. BBQ at the inlaws tommorrow night so no cooking. ;)

Glad you enjoyed your days out Thrifty and Tired Mum
Hope you are feeling much better Essex Girl.

Beth the stories are not connected or related in any way:confused::confused: I found Kite Runner unreadable and had to read Splendid Suns for book club. found it rather dull.

I know they are not connected in any way, it's just that I wanted to read the first book to get a feeling of the writer's take on things. IYSWIM :o
Just as well we all don't read the same books otherwise all (lyebarees) would be empty. Especially the speling bucks. ;)

DS has gone to his dads this evening for a day so have a little bit of me time free from the autism schedules......it has worked well though and kept him calm and we have had a lovely few days together if a little intense and trying.....we have made jam and all sorts of things. He is fabulous and really good company. I hate him being away but I know that I also need a day off.
I am going to try a wedding dress on tomorrow which I am hoping will be the one;)....it is a very elegant art deco 1930s number...it is designer so more than I wanted to pay but the high street ones just were not doing it for me:o
OS wise have made £90 so far this month on Amazon:T
Have made jam and making more tomorrow(raspberry).
hope MSD is ok ,I get the feeling something has happened to tristan....if it has God bless and hope you are bearing up ok, come back here when you feel readyxx

well off for a coffee and bed
    speak to you all soon

    Evening all,

just dropping by to catch up - not much in the way of OS been happening even though I finished placement 2 weeks ago, however the dissertation is now DONE!!! yippee :) So, unless it fails (which I don't think it should but will know at end of June), that's my degree finished...I think it will take a while to realise though, as I've got so used to studying....

I am being more MSE green-fingered if anything at the moment, been buying a few little plants, got a plastic covered walk-in greenhouse as a starter, and will be busy "growing my own". It will be so lovely to have time to begin to work on my garden & not have to keep stopping to write essays :)

Redruby - my middle DD will be 16 in August & she has been trying to find a little job since she was 14 with no luck :( It's so frustrating for them, hope yours finds something very soon.
MSD, ((((hugs)))) honey, I'm aware you haven't been around so I assume bad news :(

((((hugs)))) for everyone else needing, must catch up properly. Belated birthday & anniversary wishes to anyone I have missed.

    xx
