I have done a search but can never find anything on this board!
I rarely cook sweet stuff, so my 'baking cupboard' is full of ancient jars of ginger, mixed spice, etc., dating mostly from years ago with best before dates of 2000 and 2003!
I'm guessing I need to throw these out but wanted to check first in case I can save them/use them for something.
It's annoying as any time I want to bake I will end up buying whole new jars of stuff.
So do I need to chuck them? How long should they keep?

Hi skintchick,
This thread should help:
"Best before" dates on herbs and spices
I'll add your post to that one later to keep the replies together.

You can chop up fresh chives and freeze them. Last longer and taste better than drying and putting in jars to turn to dust.Debt-free day: 8th May 2015 "Remember that sometimes not getting what you want is a wonderful stroke of luck," Dalai Llama0
