hi everyone ,
I was just wondering would it be a good idea to
cook a pork joint in the oven,
then slice it up and freeze .
Then take them out as needed for sandwiches ?
or is this dangerous ?
Also any other ideas for saving money making sandwich fillers much appreciated.
many thanks for reading.

Hi mirry,
It won't be a problem freezing meat for sandwiches providing the meat hasn't been previously frozen and is chilled, sliced and frozen as soon as possible after cooking. I do it all the time with no problems.

I buy gammon joints especially to cook for sandwiches too. It works out so much cheaper and it's lovely quality ham you end up with. My Mum buys small chickens to do the same with.0

Thank you,
should I defrost the sliced meat in a fridge before making into sandwiches ?

Once you have taken the sliced cooked meat out of the freezer , how many days should you eat it in ?Kindness costs nothing0 -
I usually lift it out of the freezer the night before and put it into the fridge so it's defrosted by morning when I want to make the sandwiches. If I know it's been cooked chilled and frozen fairly quickly I'm happy to use it once defrosted for three days. It could probably last longer (particularly gammon) but that's my general rule of thumb.

grated cheese
marmite
