Improving the [classic] Vodka Red Bull
I'm going to a party tonight, and will be drinking Vodka Red Bull for the duration. I normally add a lime to "spruce it up" a bit. Can anyone recommend anything else to add to a Vodka Red Bull for a bit of a change?? (Bit random I realise, but a quick google has not come up with anything, and there's normally some great…

I'm pretty new to slow cooker use, last week followed recipe I'd seen posted which said you don't have to cover beef with liquid, (water, stock) Put joint of beef in slow cooker with about a pint of beef stock, beef weighed about 4-5 pounds, cooked on slow for 8 hours, came out like concrete! ? Any observations/ideas…

Cooking a mallard (duck)
Hubby went hunting again yesterday and brought home a mallard (wild duck). My recipe book said roast/cook in the oven 180C for 30 min per lb (450g) and we did just that. After plucking it and all it weighed just 450g so I only cooked it for 30mins without turning it over. Some of it was dark and some white, just like on a…

Buying fabric cheaply
I always find that I can't buy fabric cheap enough to make it cost effective to make my own clothes etc. I only end up doing so if I can't buy what I need. Our town has a market but fabric is very expensive there, everything seems to be £4 metre at minimum, and they won't do 1/2 meter. Ebay does have a lot but again…

Removing Wax from Fabric?
Help! Last night, just before bed, my H2B blew out a small, black coloured candle. Unfortunately, something happened and it blew all over his face and over the curtain behind the candle - everywhere was covered in hot wax :( Luckily, my H2B wears glasses, so it didn't damage his eyes (I'm hoping; I'm still a little…

I have been given a Severin yoghurt maker for Christmas which is great. However, the instructions are a little brief and there are no recipies given. It advises to put in 1 to 2 teaspoons of "natural" yoghurt in each individual container and then mix with milk. Does this "natural" youghurt need to be of the "live" variety…
