Hi trying to think of a cold dessert to serve new years day for a get together were having.
We are making a white chocolate cheesecake and a trifle but would like a third.
Only thing is they can't have any citrus juice/zest in as my sister is allergic
to them so no lemon tart!

I often make a pear cream cake....
just make a sponge cake - i usually do it in a ring tin (with a hole in the middles - but it doesn't matter). when cooled slice in half and layer drained tinned pears - slice them thinner if necessary- and whipped cream and then dust top with icing sugar.
if you used a normal round tin you could put a snowflake pattern on the top in icing sugar with a doily !Declutter challenge 2023.

My favourite and very quick and easy is After Eight flan (although i use Terrys chocolate orange instead
)
Make a base from crushed ginger snaps (i use Tesco Value ones) and melted butter. Leave to harden in the fridge.
Take 2 small or 1 big tin of Carnation CREAM (NOT evaporated or condensed milk) and a box of after eights (or any chocolate really) and heat the 2 together on the stove til all the chocolate has melted through the cream.
THen just bung it on top of the base and leave to set0 -
mmm, that sounds delicious! I'm going to try that one
Luxury and easy to make.
Thanks for that!
I was just going to suggest something simple, but that was received well when I did it the other night. Serve scoops of softened vanilla ice cream swirled through with some melted rum truffles (I just microwaved them for a little while, the H2B is the microwave-man in our house, so I can't say how long for!) and topped with some gingernut crumbs.Continually trying the Grocery Challenge. Gotta keep trying!0 -
I made tiramisu at Christmas, so easy but everyone was impressed. Basically just sponge fingers covered in brandy, marsala and coffee, layered with cream/marscapone/sugar mixture, sprinked with choc shavings and topped with truffles. I've since made this a second time and added baileys to the cream too, very indulgent and boozy and yum!0

What about Creme Caramel? It's really easy and cheap. I made one recently for a Moroccan meal and it was infused with Cardamon and Saffron and was delicious. To keep it festive maybe infuse with cloves and cinamon?0

Banoffee pie!Ever wonder about those people who spend £2 apiece on those little bottles of Evian water? Try spelling Evian backward.0

I made pecan pie for Xmas dessert (JO book) and it was a great hit, very moist and lovely sweet pastry. It was good hot and cold, though didn't last long.somewhere between Heaven and Woolworth's0

Ice cold vanilla ice cream and canned black cherries with the syrup mixed with brandy, warmed and served from a jug. Crumble over a ginger nut beforehand. Yummy!
I could make it better myself at home. All I need is a small aubergine...
I moved to Liverpool for a better life.
And goodness, it's turned out to be better and busier!0
