Hi, this is the Daily Thread for TuesdayThis is an “Over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone is welcome so please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “Hi everyone, hope you are all well”, type start does just as well.
Morning. Looks cold out there again. Not quite as cold as up north, but pretty chilly.
Work soon and nothing much planned.
We have almost given up on the Turkey variations and went for ASDA pizza last night. Create your own 2 for £5 can't beat it. They do a BBQ sauce one with hickory steak and chillie beef it's great.
Bro in law came over with his 3 kids last night and ate most of the biscuits and stuff. He also brought me 2 more Dysons he collects from the bins on his bin lorry. Great for parts and selling on e-bay.
Managed to only spend £12.50 in 5 days on groceries, a new record for me as we have this habit of nipping in to Tesco for milk and spending £25.
Shower and off to work, Cheers

I don't know what santa put in my DD's stockings but they have turned into fighting , bickering, argumentitive, not doing as their told little moo's . Lets hope today is better.

Morning all
Brrr it is so cold up here this morning. Thermals are in order it seems. Mum gave me a set for Xmas and DH laughed and said they are so unsexy but tbh, I was delighted as the walk from the train station is so cold.
Pink, I hope Tilly is ok, I know I would be devastated if anything happened to my bundle of fluff.
Well, I sat and read over the OS daily at various points yesterday and kept haviing to stop as the tears were running down my cheeks. You lot are truly awesome. I felt so supported and cared for from this virtual community. The amount of warm wishes was astounding and made me realise that if things get bad I can always come here for a vent. I tend to bottle things us and not talk to anyone apart from DH and it is so nice to know that I can come here even if its just to get my thoughts down. massive ((hugs)) to all you brilliant folks.
We are still eating the ham that I cooked on 27th and there is still so mjuch left that we may be eating it up to around Jan 2nd. Mum doesnt like to eat something for more than 2 days as she gets fed up with it no matter what you do with it so maybe on the way home from work I will pick up a bit of hough for her and make potted hough for her which she will happily eat for days and days
This week I think will be comparitively no spend apart from milk and bread for mum (she doesnt like HM bread..what a picky old lady) I have a joint of silverside in the freezer that I picked up at half price in Asda a few days before Xmas so if I suddenly get a call from inlaws to say they are decending that can be cooked also. Tomorrow I will probably bake a boozy cake and a cheesecake just to have some nice things to pick at as I have all the ingredients in anyhow.
Lots of warm wishes and hugs for those feeling under the weather and a general thank you to all :A0 -

I hung out loads of laundry on the line yesterday morning as it was sunny and breezy. I didn't bring it in and this morning I have looked out and it is frozen and covered in frost. I do feel like a complete idiot
but was wondering if anyone knows what I should do? Leave it to defrost, or bring it in?

Erm.... I would bring it in and try and defrost it.Sarah, who is trying to make small changes :money:0

Well I remember reading somewhere that in Siberia they hang the washing on the line, wait till it's frozen then bang the ice off and it's dry! don't know how true this is though
Morning everyone
Very cold here, have just hung 2 loads of washing out brrrrrrrrrr another load in. Made some dough for garlic bread tonight and done the bolognaise. Was back at work yesterday OH is off this week although he has gone to work todayDSD is coming tonight for the rest of the week as we didn't see her over christmas as we were away.
Want to take my tree down and get the room back to normal but OH says to leave it till new year. Apart from that, just general tidying and cleaning to do.
Hugs for anyone who is poorly or has poorlies to look after

Good Morning All
Cold and frosty here but heating on and house is toasty.
WM on just about to empty dw and wipe kitchen down. Have a few houseworky jobs on my to do list today which I will get done this morning. When OH is up this afternoon will be writing an inventory of the freezers and will keep it up to date this time.
Made Turkey stock overnight so need to strain that and get in the fridge. Am doing macaroni cheese for dinner tonight to use up some milk and cheese. Also need to menu plan but will wait till the inventory is done.
Am going to go to Iceland later tomorrow to see if can get any bargains, our local one does seem good for reductions and my mum got £100 of meat half price at her one on Xmas Eve.
So quite a bit of OS planned - no need for any baking as loads of cakes and choccys left from Xmas. Also we must have been given about 5 boxes of biscuits so shouldnt be buying any in Jan.
Dont know if this is a dim question but Mudgekin - what is Hough.
Catch you lot later.

Morning :hello:
Pink, how's Tilly doing?
I'm going to empty out my larder cupboard, give it a good clean and rearrange it. Then I'm going to list everything that's in there
I spent yesterday afternoon on the sofa surrounded by paper, lists, calendars and diaries. So I consolidated the lists :rotfl: into ones I could actually understand  I went through my fave recipes, we already have most ingredients, all I need to buy is cod for the fish pies. I also found a Morrison's saving stamps card that I'd completely forgotten about, it has £25 on it :j
I have loads of paper rubbish, I started shredding then the shredder made a weird noise (it's final struggle for breath I think, lol) then died on me. I've got an old one in the shed but it's not cross-cut so no good for animal bedding.
The washing up is done, the clothes are having a good soak and the animals have buried themselves in fresh hayTime for a shower then I'll get stuck in to that cupboard.

Hi everyone - just calling in before I leave for work; only 10 to 12 this morning and three emergencies booked in, one an 8yo boy who has been in pain with toothache, so I shall feel that covering the emergency shift is really worth it.
Cold here but not as cold as yesterday; I won't have to scrape the windscreen this morning.
Dinner tonight is stew and I've already prepped for it. Pudding is left over Christmas cake. I need an easy dinner because I have my own work to get on with this afternoon.
Mudgekin - this thread is the most wonderful place to be for support in times of need. We will always be here for you. (((Hugs))) to your DH.
(((Hugs))) to everyone, especially the poorlies.
Must dash - will call back later. Have a good day.
