Morning all
Hugs to Smokey & the Mudgekins.
Hope Tilly is on the mend.
We are having great traumas here today, last year sometime a friend of ours had a bit too much to drink & decided to try & dance on our sofa & broke it. Today hubby decided to try & mend it, he now has it in pieces all over the living room floor, he's worked out whats broken but unfortunately the local upholstery suppliers is closed til next week!!! By then hubby will be back at work & I can see it remaining like this for ages.
I've started another scarf, this one is green & white.
Tea tonight will be gammon (left over from Christmas) egg & chips.
I hope everyone has a good day.
Hugs Hester

Afternoon lovely people
I am home from Crisis for this year. Finsihed at 11pm last night and we went first to the pub for my first christmas drink and then to a volunteer's who lives around the corner. Got a lift home to dd(19)'s surprisingly sober at 6am and have slept through to about half an hour ago. It has been a truly awsome experience - I have met so many wonderful people - volunteers and guests alike. I may even have met someone rather interesting .... we shall see. dd(19) is still asleep - I have a horrid feeling she may have waited up for me - and when she wakes up I will take dd(12) home and start thinking of OUR christmas - well when the girls tell me when it's going to be I will anyway.
hugs to all
stefI'm going to feed our children non-organic food and with the money saved take them to the zoo - half man half biscuit 20080 -
Morning all!
Hilstep - sorry to hear you're still poorly, have a big hug xx
Mudgekin - anytime you need some support you'll find it here, feel free to have a good moan, most of us have at one time or another! Life isn't fair but it's always great to have someone who'll listen.
Halight - your twins sound like they're doing really well with their sleeping and eating, it's blissful when they go through the night! Have you tried them on squashes yet? The food sort, not the drink lol! They're quite sweet and nice and easy to mash as well.
Mrs Mortenharket - have you thought about freezing leftovers as individual portions for your oh when he is eating at separate times to the rest of the family, or cooking a bit extra of the meals that your ds does like and freezing them in portions for when you're having something he doesn't eat. My dd3 is fab at using up the leftover bits of cheese sauce, as she loves cheesy pasta and isn't at all keen on tomato based sauces!
Hi Moneysavinghornette and welcome! And welcome to Cruiksl, love the sound of jewellery parties!
Frugalswan - ouch, your poor oh, hope he's okay xx
Taplady - try and get some rest whilst you're off, and give yourself a chance to recover xx
Purple - Mrs M's breadsticks are fab, but be prepared to have to always make them from now on, shop ones just don't compare! I get dd3 to make them sometimes, even better if I can set up a production line with her and her little village mates! Can we have your refried beans recipe please? And I agree about Mr M's fruit and veg, it never ever lasts!
Coldstreamalways - will we be seeing you on Youtube doing your dance?!!!!
JackieO - hope you find lots of bargains in M&S and streeeeeetch that voucher!
Hester - finger's crossed that your sofa isn't still in pieces at Easter! Eek!
Cold but bright here today! Was warmer this morning when I came home than when I went to work, but a whole lot icier!
ds's new x-box arrived today, so he is very happy! Thank heavens, cos his mood yesterday morning was horrible! dd2 and dd3 are doing the dishes at the mo, dd3 just came and told me she couldn't be bothered, but upon being told that the option was going to her room until tomorrow morning soon became co-operative once more! dd1 made a brief appearance from her room to get a cuppa and a piece of choc cake, so at least she's had a 10 min break from her laptop! Ah well, cheaper than the phone bills my parents used to go scatty about, and that I used to have to pay off from my Saturday job!
Not much of any excitement happening here today, will be ploughing through the washing and ironing mountains as normal, making some rolls and doing something simple for dinner, tagliatelle I think is on the menu, and besides the box keeps falling out of the cupboard and hitting me on the head, so it must be used soon! Lunch was leftover soup from yesterday - used up some leftover cream in it and it was delish!
Will also be encouraging dd2 and dd3 to complete the clear out of their room, so that I can decorate it next week! dd2 complained that there was mould on her windows, I went in armed with cloths, hot water and stardrops, only to discover it was glittery nailpolish that had been painted on! The culprit had painted her name, so no great detective work was needed! dd3 is now however a dab hand with a paint scraper - amazing the stuff I keep in the garage (I mean the scraper, not that I'm going to keep her out there, though it's a tempting thought some days!)
Off for a catch up with yesterday's thread, have a good day all xx
edit:
C'mon stef, spill the gossip!!!! You kept us all in the dark about the festival man, not fair to be secretive this time too! Glad you got so much out of your Crisis work, I did it a couple of times over Christmas when I lived in Brighton, it was always amazingly good fun, despite most family and friends thinking I would have a miserable time!GC Oct £387.69/£400, GC Nov £312.58/£400, GC Dec £111.87/£4000 -

Afternoon peeps
very very cold here today BRRR!!!
When i took the houndies for their walk this morning my hands were so cold that i thought i`d have hot aches once they started to warm up again
I am going to click the heating up a notch in a few minutes - i turned it down a few days ago and it`s been just fine but now it needs to be warmer inside.
I`ve just very carefully eaten a sandwich, last night i managed to break off a piece of tooth on a big piece of chocolatei`ve done this before as it`s a filled tooth and it`s a bit weaker than normal, it`s been repaired though but been fine so i don`t usually think about it.
I rang the dentist this morning only to be told that as i haven`t been for a while i`ve been taken off the list  i`ve managed to find another dentist and registered but the first appointment is mid January so i hope the tooth lasts until then.
I`ve asked a question on another thread but have since realised that someone on here may know the answer, is there a standard form to fill in to register as a NHS patient at a dentist? The form that i filled in at the new dentist was a big piece of card folded into a booklet so i hope that it`s for the NHS and i haven`t filled in the wrong one  i think that they take private patients too but i asked for NHS so hopefully i`m worrying over nothing. I hate going to the dentist and i shall miss my old one as the lady was lovely, the emergency appointment that i had at the same surgery did leave me black and blue though so maybe a change for the new year is good.
Dsis has asked me if i would like to go shopping at the big centre today
judging by the traffic thats exactly where everyone is headed so i shall stay put and sort out one of the big cupboards as i`ve been putting it off for ages now, it`s a bit daunting actually - who knows what lurks in the depths :rotfl:i may be some time.................:D
Pink - How is Tilly? hope that she`s ok and all snuggled up with you and purry.
Catch up later guys.
SDPlanning on starting the GC again soon0 -
Like I said, neither of us will set the floor alight but I thnk that will add to the fun as no-one usually sees us dance. OH is 6'4" and about as flexible as an ironing board so you can imagine what it will be like!!!
I'm actually trying to learn a dance off youtube so I can teach him but it's so hard!! I've learnt about 4sec so far, the thing is Im so so so so excited about getting married, hes like *dead pan face* I'm excited too darling.
Anyhoo, I'm supposed to be writing an essay for a course I've been on to get some postgrad credits. I've done about 2/3 of is and struggling with motivation.
Love to all.0 -
Hello ladies!!
Gosh a mighty I have missed you all!! (sorry, was just watching Calamity Jane and can't stop talking like her now...:rotfl: :rotfl: )
I haven't had time to catch up on all the days threads I missed but have skimmed this one so here goes.. (please forgive me if I have missed something else important)
Frugalswan - Aww your poor OH - hope he's okay
Coldstreamalways - Your secret is safe with us... *runs off to ring the local newspaper*:p
Hilstep - sorry to hear you're still poorly.
Mudgekin - Please don't worry about having a moan on here, we all do it, and we are all here for you.
Welcome Moneysavinghornette and Cruiksl, and I too love the sound of jewellery parties!
Taplady - I hope you can get some rest while you're off.
Well, my OH has been beavering away trying to do his tax return, so the computer has been out of my hands for days, hence me being MIA. We have had a great christmas period though, didn't go silly with the shopping, used the vouchers I had saved up and Ian went out yesterday late night shopping and got some amazing whoopsied items from Asda so our fridge is bursting at the seams! Plus we have been cooking from scratch every day which has been delicious and fun. It's so nice having him home during the day as he was lucky enough to book two weeks off work over christmas for the first time in about 8 years.
Using the bread maker to make cinnabuns with cream cheese icing today. Well, the BM will make the dough part, not the icing, that might be a bit messy.:rotfl: :rotfl: . Plus a bread and butter pudding as we got two loaves at 5p each last night.
Tonight will be cold beef and mash and veg - all in stock as the cold beef was another bargain last night - 30p reduced down from £3.20!
Not doing anything for New Years Eve tomorrow as my OH has to go be DJ-boy til silly times of the night. Might stay up anyway, but it's more likely that I will fall asleep about 2230 and miss it. I do like Jules Hollands Hogmany party though.
Big hugs to everyone and hope you are all doing well.
Diva.xTo be frugal, you need to spend money wisely, simply spending less is not enough. If you can't handle me at my worst then you don't deserve me at my best...Courage doesn't always roar. Sometimes courage is the little voice at the end of the day that says I will try again tomorrow.0 -

I'm a dentist (not an NHS or private one though) but I do know that they HAVE to provide you with a written/printed treatment plan and it must clearly show which treatent is provided under NHS (remember you still have to pay unless you're exempt) and which is private. If they don't give you a plan, ask for one and then there can be no confusion. Much better to ask now than have a bill you aren't expecting.
It used to drive me mad when I was chained to the NHS and I'd explain how much the treatment would cost and all my patients would say (after they had told me I was too young to be a dentist) "no dear, I don't have to pay, I'm NHS".0 -
