Morning all,
Pink, how is tilly doing ? hope she is ok xx
Frugal, ouch, hope your dh is ok xx
Moneysavinghornette, hello and welcome x
SALOPMAN, nice to see you posting again, we do the same sort of thing, but have a change pot which we add to throughout the year, this year it had over £110 in it, and there was £50 on my nedcter card so xmas food and drinkies were more than paid for :T .
Had a good day at the sales yesterday, dd had saved her birthday and xmas cash, and bought herself a really nice dress, which looks great over leggins, she bought shoes, a belt, handbag, and best of all a winter coat, she does have one, but refuses to wear it, and would rather be cold  , all her friends are the same, but she has chosen and paid for this one herself so will hopefully wear it.
Os today, i have a wash on, and another to do, they should dry well today, will hoover through and tidy, got to nip to the shop for a couple of bits, and that should take us over till next week.
Anyhoo, have good days all xx0 -
Morning everyone - hope you're all doing okay today?
Well, I've had a busy morning - made porridge for brekkie, as DH is working today, so thought it would be a good start for us both. Doctored it a wee bit by putting some chopped up prunes and a splash of double cream into it!! It was very tasty
Then took in the washing that was still outside from last night - unlike some, it wasn't frozen solid, so the bathmats are now airing in the back porch and my DH's car cleaning cloths are airing in the garage.
Hung out another two loads of washing and hope that they'll dry, as there's very little wind, but the moisture seems to be evaporating okay from the clothes. Have a couple of jumpers in the machine just now too, so will go and check on them soon.
Been out with the dog for a good walk and she's now lying at my feet exhausted! Will stop her pestering me for a wee while.
Now, going to allow myself about 15 minutes on here before I start studying again. Who's idea was it to do a part-time Masters and work full-time.....??
Hope you all have a good day today!0 -

Morning all, was at Mr M this morning. In spite of wanting to not buy stuff because of the Jan storecupboard challenge, I ended up spending £64  . I suppose it wasn't too bad, am entertaining for New Year tomorrow, so knew it was inevitable that i would have to get some things in. In addition there was no cheese in the house of the ordinary type, so got some nice big lumps of the seriously strong for a very good price. That and the Salmon together was over £20, also enough fresh milk for the month, that I will freeze.
I think it will last if I use powdered for cooking etc. Might even do a sneaky dilute of the regular milk, not with water as that would be noticed straightaway! but I got a load of milk powder from approved food which worked out at about 2p per pint.
I was amazed at how carp and expensive the fruit and veg was in Mr M. Scabby lightweight iceberg lettuces were 99p, I know it's winter and unseasonal, the price I can understand, but the quality was terrible. I only wanted a bit of salad for tomorrow night, so for the same price I got some leaves, not something I would normally touch. Their bags of value bananas have gone up again. up 10p a few weeks ago and now another 10p. I'm getting mean I think. (what do mean, getting mean? I can hear them say LOL!)
Will make a start on the menu for tomorrow night later, have someone in for a manicure shortly (eeeuuuw still have tax return to finish for that work !) so will have breakfast I think! She's from sewing club, so we're going to the local fabric warehouse afterwards. Don't actually 'need' anything! Well, actually I do, going to my goddaughters 18th in Jan and it's a costume ball. Blimey, it's January on Thursday! Eeek!
Menu for tomorrow, will be sort of buffet-ish as some are coming just for a drink, not the whole evening.
Guacomole, Hummus and Tzatziki to start. GOnna try MrsMicawber's breadsticks.
Pork Enchiladas and Salmon in Herb sauce for main
Spicy couscous, COleslaw, potato salad,
Salady stuff to use with the dips as well.
Baked cheesecake with apricot sauce
Cheese board
Home made chocolates (already done from Xmas)
Just about everything home made of course, have a back up pack of wraps in case I don't get time for those. Also making a batch of frijoles refritos (refried beans) for the freezer, to go in enchiladas.
Should keep me out of mischief!"Knowledge is knowing that a tomato is a fruit. Wisdom is not putting it in a fruit salad"

Hellooo!!:D
I'm freezing but I have to go out for a run this morning, mind you, I'm only cold because we haven't put the heating on yet, at all this year which I'm quite pleased with and once I've been for a run I'll be toasty. It's a pleasure pain thing!!
Other than that, I counted my piggy bank last night as he's been troughing on my change for a year and there is £140 in there!!1 So I'm off to the ank to try and pay that in.
Then- not OS at all- I'm trying to put two music tracks together so OH and I can start practising our first dance for our wedding. We haven't even set a date yet but we're both so awful at dancing we need to practice practice practice!!!! We were quoted £40 for someone to do it but I reckon I can do it, we shall see! Bring back cassette tapes!
Love to all.0 -
Mmmmm - Purpleivy, like the sound of your pork enchiladas - what cut of meat do you use and do you make them as though they were chicken? Think you've given me an idea for tonight's tea, as I wasn't sure what to make! Thank you!
Coldstreamalways - what music are you planning on doing your first dance to? Traditional or pop?
When me and MrN got married, we didn't have a dance, as he doesn't do dancin' - so that solved that one! Had only 30 folk there all day, so there wasn't an evening reception as such. If I'd had a first dance, then I would have chosen to dance to "Kate Martin's Waltz" by Blair Douglas - normally played on the accordian.

Morning - just really joining here. This is my year to tackle our debt and also get my cupboards under control ! Took an inventory of our freezer and store cupboard on Sunday and it freaked me out how much we have there ! Enough to feed us for well over a month ! So buying the basics. Working for 2 hours this afternoon - I do kids jewellery parties so some pennies saved for the holidays in July. Hope everyone has a good day.So little money - so much time :mad:0

Morning Chums, blooming chilly here in North Kent.I made a huge pan of leek & potato soup last night ,that has to go into the freezer and I'm making a big SC full of stew from bits I have found in my freezer.I have some left over carrots and some mushrooms and some celery so that will get thrown in as well.I have some red wine that could taste better in a stew than a glass so thats going in too. What I do is when I see some small packet of stewing steak at the supermarket that has been reduced I buy it and freeze it and when I have two or three packets I defrost them all and hey presto a large pot of warming stew. When its all cooked by tonight I shall portion it up in small containers when cold and freeze for individual dinners for me over the next few weeks. I find its a great way to use up left over veggies, plus I never buy a great big amount of stewing steaak in one go.
I have a bag of new charlotte potato's that I bought last week and once washed and sliced on top of my pot-stew they will all cook together. I have to go to the local Hempstead Valley shopping mall this afternoon so by the time I get home it will all be done .
I have a £10.00 voucher to spend in M&S so I want to have a look at what's on the offer. I shall dig out one of my furry hats to wear though as its very cold. Tonight I shall whip through my house and try to get all my New Years cleaning done quickly, a habit I picked up from my late mum.The house had to sparkle before the old year was out.
Mmm stovies I haven't had that for such a long time ,my late Mum used to make it when I was a little girl.
Well time to trot chums ,hope you all have a productive day.I have no shopping to buy foodwise so I will only take my voucher with me so I'm not tempted to buy in the other shops.
Cheers JackieO0 -
