  • Evening. Shattered lol. Town this morning, then to Mother’s and took her shopping to Asda. It was packed, kept having to hurry her and her small trolley along before we got killed in the crush (she is a bit slow and often drives me to distraction but as her 89th birthday is coming up I suppose she does have a good excuse!)
I got her some superb “new” curtains from Heart Foundation Charity shop the other week, put them up today, they are about an inch short (very long window) but have a decent hem so I’ll let them down next time I go.
I am a Home Bargains addict, always call in if I am in town, best buy today was some Thinsulate ski gloves £1.99, virtually same ones were £12.99 in Millets, bought some for sis…and me :D . Perfect for this very cold weather.
Coldstreamalways – what do you mean – bring back cassette tapes? Has there been some new development I’ve missed? :D
Stefejb well done, greatly admire you for volunteering over Christmas……… and you met “someone rather interesting”, bonus!
Pink – sorry to read Tilly has lost her tail, poor love. Hope she is soon feeling better. Our (little) eldest cat is ok with tablets but the other one is another story. We have to put on thick coats and gloves as she goes crazy. Once when vet tried giving her a worming tablet she bounced off all four walls and ended up with her claws sunk into his nurse’s hand. Funnily enough they only give her injections now and leave any "tablet" treatment to us!
    (((((to all those feeling poorly)))))
  • Hugs to all

Pink - poor Tilly. I do hope she is better soon. It is so hard for cats because they like to [STRIKE]shed hairs[/STRIKE] groom themselves a lot.

I have had toothache for about a fortnight. I may have the nerve to get to the dentist around Feb, as I am very phobic. They knock me out and then dear heart giggles for weeks afterwards about the silly things I say. It is a broken filling. The cold is not helping. Little bear went to the park today and I was in agony.

My darling brother visited and brought me a lovely rose plant in a pot. I hope evil cat ignores it. Evil cat has eaten roses, thorns and all, in the past but at the moment she is on a prescription diet which does not include roses. Of course, the other hazard that the poor plant is exposed to is me. My darling father confiscated my last two pot plants. They were randomly watered, uber tough scented geraniums that evil cat wouldn't touch.

If I don't get on tomorrow - hope all have a marvellous new year.

    Hi guys,

Well it has been a lovely day all in all, LO has been much better behaved today and the kids have had a 'get along' day.:T :T :T We have had re runs of Dr Who (sky +'d for emergencies) as LO loves them and watched Wall E again! We have done art with DS's art kit and drawn pictures and now that all the deccies and boxes are upstairs to go in to the attic DD1 has next door free where he intends to build up all of his lego and make a city and space station. Here at least they won't be knocked down by one of the others as he builds them.;)

The lounge we 'live in' is now deccy free and cleaned to within an inch of it's life and all windows done except the kitchen ones. The house is in it's usual clean state - until about 8am tomorrow!!! - our lunch was home made burgers and tea - good old sausage, egg and chips. Not too healthy today but hey! the kids (and I) loved them. :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

I have a chicken defrosting for tomorrow and intend to portion it up and cook with a bbq sauce to go with our New Year's eve buffet, and intend to make a cold mixed rice dish, hm garlic bread, fresh fruit salad and cream and some frozen mini pizzas (and whatever is lurking in the freezer) along with crisps and breadsticks and dips - so we all should be happily stuffed tomorrow evening. I must remember to pull the pork joint out of the freezer to defrost for Thursday.

The ironing I 'dissapeared' is now sitting on the lounge table and must get done tomorrow and I will have to make a trip in to the attic to put the deccies in there. I will also clean the kitchen windows, net and sills and the usual hoover, swish and swipe through the house.

Pink - I am glad Tilly is home, poor you with the meds - my eldest cat, a ginger tom is 15 this year and is a nightmare. Gloves, towel, long sleeves and a huge dose of luck needed when he needs tablets. The others are easy to con with bits of meat but Max just eats the meat and spits out the tabs.

Mudgekin - I echo all of the others, these good people have been a lifeline for me since my husband died and are a tower of strength and support. I am thinking of you both. xx

Welcome all new posters - you will love it here.

Pen-pin - I hope you are Ok, hugs to you.

Churchie - I hope you are OK , I haven't 'read' you for a while.

Gentle hugs to all in need tonight and big smiles for others, you know who you are - *cough* stefejb *cough*. :rotfl: :rotfl:

  • Also Pink - evil cat will often take pills hidden in cheap fish paste. Not always, as evil cat is evil, but surprisingly often.

Little bear has got some painting sticks - they are supposed to be easy for little hands to hold. And they get all over little hands - and don't wash off! Clothes and high chair tray I accept will be a target for creativity, but deary me! And if I fail to get them out there will be words - or rather as he cannot yet speak there will be angry grunts.

He is starting to shape some words, but the names of numbers. He is showing signs of understanding counting to ten. I am getting extremely nervous because much more development with numbers and he will be more able than I!

Unfortunately Tilly won't take them in her food. She's the fussiest cat alive and will eat all the food leaving the pill sitting in her dish. Smokey, she's a ginger tabby too...here's a pic of her in happier times.

AW Pink - Tilly is truly beautiful!

Have you tried grinding the tablets between 2 spoons and mixing the powder into some tinned tuna? I could get one of our previous cats to take tablets this way but only if the tuna had been in brine which i drained and then mixed the resulting powder in really well.

    Hi Sunnyday,

I'll give that a go...they're capsules but I think I could break them open. She loves tuna in brine. Thank you. :A

Aww!!! Pink, she is beautiful. When I get some more memory on this dratted lappy I will show you my family of cats! I can't post much of anything as it works on -5000 miles an hour and a nightmare to work with - New years resoloution - No 5. - buying cheap does not mean better!!!!!

Maxamillion the 3rd (Max for short) is a gorgeous cat, the first I have ever been owned by!!! LOL, I fell in love with him when I first saw him and he fell in love with me. Unfortunately my 1st husband was not a cat lover and Max paid the price with a broken leg. He paid the price with the door!  (culmination of other things too.)

Despite his wariness, the kids know to their cost to leave him alone!:rotfl: :rotfl: I find most mornings he is curled around my head and purring when I wake up. He LOVES chicken and is like a dog with a bone when I cook it, even days later when I am OS, ing it  Max knows.!!!!

He was my first friend when I left home and desptie all he has been through remains a good friend. I have a cat flap in our house and every cat since has adopted us. We have had cats with AIDS, cats fitting, and as Lucy, pregnant cats that have decided that we are a better option! I suppose I am soft when it comes to them, Eric always said I was but I won't see any anmial suffer when I can help. I hope Tilly has a good night.

  • hi everyone,
hugs for the mudgekins, sorry to hear your news.
and hugs for pink, gentle hugs and ear scratches for tilly. i know how much of a shock it is, it happened to one of my grandmothers cats too. on the plus side, cats do heal very well and fast. they manage very well without a tail even though they do use it for balance. she may be a little clumsy for a while though. i honestly believe all animal traps should be banned and anyone caught using them prosecuted! it boils my blood.

os wise, ummmm, i've made meatballs and frozen them. done i think 5 loads of washing today, mucky boys. lol.
brains not really working, had yet more bad news cant really process it all to be honest. just plodding along in a bit of a daze. hopefully be all over by the end of january. keep saying i cant wait for this year to be over, but it's dragging on into the new year anyway.

my two older boys are going to help my dad load, deliver and stack firewood for an elderly friend of the family tomorrow, which they love doing. then my dad is dropping off my mam here while he goes to play a gig for hogmanay. he's the singer in a band. so he'll pick my mam up on the way home. be nice to have her here for new year.

well i better go get on with yet more washing. done the litter tray, took the xmas tree down cos the cats kept tipping it and it was looking pretty scraggly. lol. leaving tinsel etc up for new year though.

    take care everyone. sally. xxx
