OS Daily New Years Eve 2008

Hi, this is the Daily Thread for New Years Eve. This is an “Over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone is welcome so please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “Hi everyone, hope you are all well”, type start does just as well.

:grouphug: Well, this is the last day of 2008. I am off to work shortly and I hope there is no work, as I don't want to be late off. I was later home last night after somthing came in during the afternoon.
It's cold here, but dry. I don't think it is as cold as the rest of the country, but certainly burning up the oil all the same.
Off to a party tonight, some murder mystery thing where I have to be a character and supposedly dress up. I don't want to be a party pooper, but I am not going out to buy some clothes just to look the part, but I will try with what I got.

I hope everyone has a great New Year's Eve; I can't believe this year is almost over - it has raced by.

I haven't had time to read much of yesterday's thread; I hope to catch up today, once I've been to work. It's my last shift for the week today so I hope to have more time tomorrow.

Dinner tonight is chicken curry and rice, pudding is undecided at the moment.

Well, I'd better go and get DH up for work so will call back later.

Good Morning :T to everyone.

I'm so excited as we're taking the children to a ski slope in the centre of Manchester today The best bit is that its FREE :T My dh works for an event security company & did nights while this was being put together in Nov and early Dec. The manager of the place gave him free passes for 2 adults & 3 children so we're going to use them today. You go down the ski slope on a big black rubber ring :rotfl: I'll probably be unable to walk afterwards but it'll be worth it. I'll take a flask of hot chocolate with me as I refuse to buy overpriced drinks out.

Not out tonight, dd and ds1 are, we're going to watch a dvd with ds2 he loves staying up until midnight to see in the new year. I hope that everyone has an enjoyable night whatever they're doing & Happy New Year

Morning all,
Busy day ahead as we are holding a party here tonight, we're expecting about 20 friends.
I'm going to make a pot of chilli, rice, jackets, sos rols, quiches, french sticks, chick drum sticks in bbq sauce, and loads of nibbles. DF's are bringing puds and some are bringing fireworks. I think I'll have to get DH to light the chimnea if we're going to be stood outside.
Kitchen and bathrooms blitzed y/day I'll vacume and dust later. Beds are made up as I think some DF's may want to stay over.
Must check on supplies for breakfast, that's if they can face it.
I've made my on CD mixes, only to stop DH playing Jonny Cash.

Where has this year gone?

I'm going to FIL's this morning. I want to get it out of the way as early as poss so mr tru is giving me a lift on his way to work.

My kitchen cupboards are looking fab But why has mr tru got so many hot sauces? Insanity sauce, Mega Death sauce, Pure Death sauce, A$$ Kicking hot sauce...............the list goes on :rolleyes: The food's all sorted, this afternoon I'll sort out the 'box' cupboard - lunchboxes, flasks, storage boxes, and the 'stuff' cupboard - batteries, phone chargers etc.

I hate new year's eve parties so I'm doing nothing tonight. NOTHING :j

Well its the last few hours of 2008 now the ups and downds of this year are now coming to an end and the start of a brand new year are just around the corner:T :T what will it bring? will it be good? will it be bad? who knows but the advencher of life will carry on! 2009 will be what we make of it. Bad things will happen thay always do but its how we deal with them that detumins the how we come out the other side.

2008 started off for me with finding out that y wife was going to have a baby.:T great. Thigs then moved on very fast to us finding out she was having twins:T still great. but as is life things did not sty so good we then found out that there were problems and to cut a long story short thay nearly deliverd them at 27 weeks then 28 weeks then 29 weeks she had them in the end at 30 weeks + 5 days. In liverpool!!!!!!!!!!! nearly 200 miles away from were we like. there was no room at the inn for us anywere else:eek:

Thay then spent 6 weeks in neo natel at 3 driffernt places the last month was at our local unit.

The twins are now doing great just small for age but thats it:T :T .

But in the twists and turns of life the year has ended with me loseing my job. well i will in january anway!
So for me 2009 will start with me loseing my job But on a plus side i will be debt free!!!:T
so as iv said 2009 will be what i make it.

Sorry for the long post above:D
I did not relise untill i had posted it how long it was:eek:
anyway its very foggy here in the west midlands and very cold.
Got no plans really for today apart from sorting out some of the twins stuff and finishing off bits and bobs in there room as now thay are sleeping through the night we are going to try and get them to sleep in there own room. and thats about it.

Plans today are to get back to normal. I slept most of yesterday and need to catch up with a ton of washing and cleaning. I also feel like i haven't eaten properly for yonks - have any of us - so am going to do a proper meal plan. I think i'm babysitting dgs(4) tonight but am not sure what the girls have planned. I notice that dd(23) has changed her status to single on facebook but it's probably a long story so i'm saying nada. I'm told that we're having christmas on saturday so will do a bit of planning for that today as well

well i`m a bit tired this morning, the corner of my tooth broke off and it hurt quite a bit so i`ve not had much sleep - did manage some wine tho

It seems a bit better this morning so i shall go and strip the bed and air the bedroom, i have washing to hang up and more to do, the dw and bm are close to finishing too so all in order at the moment.

Pusscat is behind the blinds and is walking around on the windowsill deliberately knocking over the cards that are all stood on there, i shall start taking some down later and cut some of the nicer picures out to make gift tags for next year. Both doggies are snoring away atm but we shall be out on our first walk shortly - bet it`s freezing outside :eek:

Tru - I would love to do nothing this evening too, instead i shall be out with DH and my Dad it`s the only time that dad wants to go out so we usually go with him as he can`t manage it alone. We have some friends coming along that we haven`t seen for ages so it will be nice to catch up.

I shall make a move now and catch up later.

Happy new year to everyone ( well almost)

not going out tonight but having a buffet at home for just me OH and girls. I'm glad we are not going out its so cold. I have just come to work and its minus 4:eek:
working till 2 then i'm off till tuesday :T
I shall take down the decorations tomorrow as they are starting to irritate me

Can't believe i'm on first page again, but I am up at this ungoldy hour waiting for TD man to come.It's only 3 weeks today since I got it so let's see what he has to say:rolleyes: :rolleyes:
Anyway after that i'm popping to get drinks for tonight as i'm going to a party at my mates house, not that i'm in the mood really:o
Anyway have a fab NYE everyone, and let's hope for a better 2009 for us all:D
