Morning all! (just checked, and it is still morning:D)
Anyway, sat here in my shiny new Christmas pyjamas with a big mug of coffee. Been doing lots of OSing for and over Christmas - my Christmas pudding was fab this year (this was the second year I made it after last year's triumph - entirely due to OS help!) and my cake was nice as well.
Spring cleaning is the order of the day at the moment -we have too much stuff in too small a house so I've been tidying and clearing under the bed so we can put more stuff under it. Next up is the kitchen storecupboard - I'm sure I have about three packets of dried mushrooms in there!
Had leftover panetone for breakfast, not very OS I admit but will be having garlic chickpeas in pitta for lunch. We're off out to a friends for New Year tonight and I'm a bit miffed they haven't asked me to do a pudding as they usually do - I love a good excuse to get making puddings! We got a couple of bottles of half price bubbly from Mr T and will bring that along with lots of cheese.
FWIW, I was fortunate enough to get Jamie's Ministry of Food for Christmas from my mother in law. Although I consider myself a reasonable cook, the book is fabulous - it's got loads of recipes that I know I will make after work because they are sooooo quick and easy. They are healthy too, not chock full of cream or cheese. It's far better than any of the other 'how to cook" books as it's full of things I can imagine people wanting to eat these days. Highly reccommended!0 -
BRRRR! it`s absolutely freezing outside and very foggy - the doggies loved it.
All their doggy pals were out this morning so there were eleven doggies running around the park and playing together, i love to see them all enjoying themselves.
Both of them are now snuggled up and fast asleep. I walked to the local chemist for a dental kit but i`ll try to leave it as long as possible before using it, especially as it seems to be ok at the moment.
I`ve been down to the greenhouse and taken out the chilli pepper plants which haven`t survived as i`d hoped and chopped up the windowsill herbs and frozen them in ice cube trays for cooking. Now i need to get back upstairs and sort out the bedroom and the bathroom.
I`ve taken all the cards down and cut out the pics for next years gift tags and managed to get all the paper and card recycling out for the collection so i now have an empty blue bin to refill and all the glass has been taken to the bottle banks near the local community centre - my i`ve done some walking this morning but i`m pleased to report that i`ve not used the car at all
I`m getting myself into a nice positive mood for 2009 and i plan to save every single spare penny that i can, i need to plan a bit more and get myself organised but i just know that i can do it. Mr Sunny won`t know whats hit him :rotfl:
I`m offski to do the rest of the cleaning upstairs but no doubt i shall pop back later.
Pink - Has Tilly eaten her tuna/tablet? Fingers crossed for you! oh and i find that the capsules come apart quite easily with a good twist but have something underneath ready to catch the powder. ((((HUGS)))) for you and Tilly.
SDPlanning on starting the GC again soon0 -
Hello all!
2008 has gone by so fast. Been a weird year. Had a m/c in May. But have another bean growing now, due April!
Lots of friends have had very bad years, so I have been "lucky" in comparisson.
Looking forward to OS-ing in 2009, spesh as I shall be giving up my job. Will lose about £600PM...
Today have hung up the washing & been shopping.
Need to clean a window (just the 1, lol!), do some ironing & sort some clothes.
DH has taken DD swimming. DS is watching Space Chimps. He's still in his jammies. I don't pressure them to get dressed in the school hols.
I have also just helped declutter some of the biscuit barrell. YUM!
HAPPY NEW YEAR ALL!

Morning all
If I don't come on here again today may I wish you all a very happy new year and lets hope 2009 is a little better than 2008 for all of us.
N9eav are they getting you playing detective or will you be a villain for a change?
Hugs to Tilly, Pink. There are some horrible people out there, doing that to a poor defenceless animal
Sunnygirl I remember seeing that place in the distance on my visit up to Manchester the other week, it looks huuuuuuuuuge. I am sure you will all enjoy yourselves.
I'm with you Essex-girl. I might stay up to see the new year in but I will probably be snoring by then. I was ill a couple of years ago and went to bed early only to be woken up at midnight by fireworks going off 2 doors down. Frightened the life out of me.
Welcome Tilli-Tot you will feel at home here quite quickly
Went out to do some shopping earlier, just a few essentials. Have a pot of potato and leek soup on the go, going to enjoy some of that in half hour or so mmmmmmm.
Small ironing pile to conquer this afternoon and after that not a lot. Going to have all the candles and anything else Christmassy that can be turned on and twinkles will be turned on as its all coming down tomorrow. A last flourish for the end of the year.
Have a good day all0 -
Morning everyone!
Beth - Hope your party goes well hon.Tilli-Tot and Salopman - you will love it here
Tru and Essexgirl - I am with you on NYE, I always feel like we are all forced to have fun and so I stopped going out about a decade ago. My poor OH doesn't have the choice though, he has DJed on NYE for the last 15 years.
MrsTittlemouse - *hugs* to you honey. I always end up in tears today at some point, and this year will be worse as it's been a year since I was last allowed to see my nephews and I miss them with every fibre of my being. And I don't see 2009 being any better either as my mother and sister are still not speaking to me. I don't think the pain can go away - I guess I just get used to it being there.
Sorry, to get a little glum.
Anyway, onto happier things... Decided to clear my siggy and start afresh for the new year - it's nice to have the blank sheet to start filling up! Have been watching 'Spellbound' on TV, with the lovely Ingrid Bergman and the very young and handsome Gregory Peck.
We have decided to do make cinnamon buns today - was going to do it yesterday but in the end spent the time copying things into my new diary. God I love new stationery!! I also want to make some sausage meat patties as the OH bought some sausage meat whoopsied in Asda.
Not sure about dinner yet - haven't got that far, but I think it will be a jumble of bits and peices left in the fridge. Lunch will be very unhealthy but delicious - whoopsied tortilla chips covered in cheese and onion and chilli powder and melted under the grill.
Ok, must go and do some more reviews to earn a little more money before the month ends.
I wish you all a happy, healthy and prosperous 2009.to everyone who would like one today.
Diva.xTo be frugal, you need to spend money wisely, simply spending less is not enough. If you can't handle me at my worst then you don't deserve me at my best...Courage doesn't always roar. Sometimes courage is the little voice at the end of the day that says I will try again tomorrow.0 -

Just a pop in to say many thanks to all for the past year and many good wishes for 2009. I don't post too often but read lots!
I hit John Lewis in Glasgow on Monday and it was totally packed. Got what I wanted and left just as the escalators ground to a halt (three floors worth in both directions).
Back home now and have been out early this morning for the essentials, took bottle to recycling place, had the car washed and made a huge pot of pea and mint soup for lunch for the rest of the week. Now I'm just relaxing and trying not to think too much of the evening ahead. As as Scot I should love Hogmanay, and I do... but I miss Scotch and Wry and it's just not the same without the it on the TV.
The mantra for 2009 is that chocolate is poison... poisoning my life and poisoning my happiness. MUST get some weight off.
We end 2008 in a fortunate position and haven't had any major disasters, deaths or misfortunes (this year!) but know that that's not the case for many people. We offer up thanks to the 'gods' every day in this house and now I raise my glass to all those could use some blessings.

I'm in a similar position Halight, without the twinsand I also intend to see this as a positive opportunity to do something different.
Just a quiet day to day. The office closes at 1pm, for good, then its just the three of us at home to see the New Year in.
Have a good one, whatever you are doing.0
