Garlic Wash - Any Ideas of Boiled/Chopped Garlic?
Don't know how many of you read the Greenfingered Moneysaving Thread but some of us have a snail/slug problem. One of the solutions suggested was to make a garlic wash by boiling up two chopped bulbs of garlic in water and then diluting to and use to water plants. Well I now have my garlic infusing in the water after…

Anyone having problems getting hold of easiyo?
Hello, I've had a yogurt maker for a few weeks and have used easiyo sachets as well as making my own yogurt from starter, but I seem to be having difficulty getting hold of easiyo sachets through the web and also in shops. Does anyone know if they are being discontinued in this country or something and what is a good…

I'm thinking of doing a stew/casserole type thing for Wednesday night's tea. This will involve making it tomorrow night and Slow Cooking it while I'm at work Wed. I plan to use the following "recipe":- 1. Pork (cheap in Tesco today - was going to be lamb but ran out!) 2. Seasonal vegetables (can't remember what was in the…

How do you do it?
I've just been moaning on the DFW board about my finances - I've been keeping a spending diary for the past month and things are much worse than I thought. Anyway, one area I really MUST tackle is my food spending. Despite my very best intentions I'm the world's worst OS when it comes to cooking/planning. I never manage to…

Feeding yourself on BOGOFS & other special offers
I'm intrigued to wonder how possible it would be to feed yourself for a week by merely buying BOGOFS, "two for the price of one" or other special offers from supermarkets. It would probably be a rather wierd diet but if everybody would post the BOGOFS we come across and which supermarket, it might provide an idea of what…

Tomato ketchup wastage
Has anybody else noticed how difficult it is to remove the last dregs of Heinz tomato ketchup from their upside-down bottles these days? The plastic bottles seem to have lost their squeeze factor which makes it impossible to remove quite a large quantity of the sauce. Does anybody have suggestions on how to extract this?…

Hi there, I am a fairly new slow cooker user and have a Anthony Worrall-Thompson 4.5 litre one which I have used successfully for lots of meals BUT I have had a few go wrong where the food is very tasteless and to my mind overcooked - an example being when I did a pork joint with peppers, onions and loads of spices (a…

Does anyone make their own Tea Towels?
Hi It might be a weird question, but I get fed up of stained old tea towels and would love an economical way of making my own fresh supply. I wondered if there was a tea towel-ish type of material I could buy by the metre that I could cut up and machine the edges to make my own, and if anyone already does this? I could…
