Slow cooker with timer???

Options
Hi there,

I am a fairly new slow cooker user and have a Anthony Worrall-Thompson 4.5 litre one which I have used successfully for lots of meals BUT I have had a few go wrong where the food is very tasteless and to my mind overcooked - an example being when I did a pork joint with peppers, onions and loads of spices (a Jamie Oliver recipe - sticky pork and pepper goulash I think).

Anyway, what I was wondering was whether anyone knew of a different one with a timer perhaps? - even on the low setting I have to leave stuff for 10 hours+ which seems OK for chilli and the like but not other things that I'd like to try.

Many thanks in anticipation!
MWA

You could always buy a timer switch from the likes of Argos  and plug your SC into that.

I'll join this question to the SC quick questions thread to keep all suggestions together.

I agree that a basic timer socket would be all you need (£3-ish in Tesco)

Be careful though - remember that bactera in food (esp meat) multiplies rapidly at room temperature, so you shouldn't leave it in the SC for too long before it is turned on, and never leave it sitting in the pot after browning it or adding hot liquids... always put it straight on to cook if anything in the pot is part cooked. ;)
