Any useful ways to use slats..

I am putting up wooden venetian blinds and have loads of slats to remove to shorten them , I am loathe to just chuck them in the bin as they are a really nice pale wood and there must be a good way to use them .. Any ideas welcome? Some are 2' long and some are 6'...

    use the slats as plant labels! Just trim the slats to equal lengths! well... that is what I did with mine! :lol:

    I didn'tknow you could shorten venetian blinds, can you post the instructions please and more importantly is it easy

    nail 2 or 3 or 4 (depending on width) to a strip of wood or a piece of another lat? and mount on the wall??
