OS daily thread Tuesday 27th May

Hi, this is the Daily Thread for 27th May. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything OS and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an OS natter. The more the merrier!

When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem, we’re a laid back bunch here so you won’t hear any complaints. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.

Morning everybody,
Well the weather has caught up with us :( Horrendously windly here last night, needless tosay that kept me awake for quite a while so I'm a sleepy head this morning.

Smoky, so glad to see you posted last night. You're doing fine, one day at a time and you'll get there. If you need any garden advice, nip over to the greenfingers board and we'll help you out :)

W**k beckons this morning, so nothing planned for today apart from that.
Tea tonight is something I defrosted last night, I'm not sure what, think it could be braising steak

Pink Winged - Where's the piccys of the cucumbers you were going to post on the greenfingers board???? :D

I'm off to do alarm clock for my colleague ths morning, she slept in yestersay so I was late starting work

(((hugs))) to all who want one this morning

See you all later, have a lovely day

    Good morning, Arkonite Babe!

Well, welcome to all the newbies who joined yesterday while I was AWOL! I'm sure you'll love it here.

Have not read the rest of yesterday's thread properly yet so wil try and catch up later.

(((Hugs))) to SMOKY, MRS MIX, PENPIN, BETHEEBEE and everyone else in need of them.

    CHURCHMOUSE - :hello: :hello: :hello:

MARTYN - it's lovely reading your upbeat positive posts! 'Ya Julie' is doing you the power of good!

Yesterday afternoon was spent at DS2's while DH helped him hang a door and I talked 'weddings' with my future DIL; what should have been a 2 hour job turned into five hours because the previous house owner had made a real botch of the door catch mechanism; much cursing, banging and chiselling was heard but they sorted it in the end. We were so late leaving that I didn't get dinner on until 7.30. Anyway, we had a lovely text when we arrived home thanking Dad for his help.

Anyway, didn't that weekend whizz by? I don't know where the time went. I have lots of errands to run today and other things to catch up on like ironing, paperwork and so on so it's going to be a busy day. Dinner will be Stovies so that will be easy to do.

Well, I suppose I'd better go and get the breakfast things ready so I'll see you all later.

Thursday? 28th April? Have I missed anything?

Work today, still raining. What a wash out yesterday was.

9 chicks out and running about, No 9 egg to come, but being very slow. It's still very alive too, good heartbeat, but does not want to come out. I don't think I can help it any more than I have done as it may die.
I am not sure how to post a picture. Last time I tried it would not post. If you know the secret please drop me a PM with instructions.

I have to attend a funeral today at 3, so I will finish early and go to that. It's for the wife of somone I have known at church for about 30 years. Very sad as you might expect.

Must call the insurance company to see about the damage repairs as well...

    I'll get it changed :D

From SRA's guide to MSE - here's the guide to inserting pictures. PM me if you need more help ;)

We had beautiful weather over the weekend, but it's now raining. I'm not compaining, though, as our garden really needs it. We went to a country house yesterday, for a walk in the gardens, and tea and cake in the cafe ;)

DD needs a teapot for her art project, so we're off over the wolds to the Northern Town of Many Charity Shops :p We're then meeting a friend to swap some veg plants and have tea and cake.

Off for a quick surf, then I need to do the ironing and tidy round before the Small Penguins are up.

Have a great day, Penny. x

    Morning

We were lucky and the rain held off all weekend, but it has arrived this morning, just in time for me to take the dog out  Because is stayed dry, we managed to plant the beans, peas, sprouts and cabbages in the allotment, just have to wait to see whether the mice / rabbits / pigeons eat it all :o

Went out for dinner on Sunday night with DS and family, and had a lovely meal, but had chips and lots of other [strike] fattening [/strike] nice things. Weigh in this morning, and this week is just a question of how much weight I have put on

Our DGD is 9 months old, and is really starting to develop a personality. She has just started to crawl and says Dada, and is such a happy, pleasant little thing. Just hope she is still the same when she is 15 :D

Think I will get some mince out of the freezer for dinner, but don't know what I will do with it yet.

Have a good day everyone x

good morning everyone. another one with a dreadful night's sleep. i think littleist gin must be teething as she was feeding non-stop and very restless. then at 6.30 am middle gin comes in as she has wet the bed. no wet beds for months and months and months and then two in two nights. then the two oldest start fighting and wake up baby. the day can only get better, right?

so, here i am, up stupidly early with all three girls. no plans for today. mr tesco is coming this afternoon and until then we have hardly any food. no idea what to do for dinner tonight, i think it was jacket potatoes on my meal plan, but i have forgotten to order any baking potatoes. oh well...

hope everyone has a good day.

    Good Morning All

(((Smokey))) hope today is a better day for you.

Not raining here at the moment but no sunshine either, is still soaking everywhere from 2 days of almost constant rain. If it drys up a little one thing we must do today is get the ladders out and clear our gutters, think they must be blocked solid.

Also must get out and buy some new phones, we had a couple of power cuts yesterday and the power surge seems to have broken both phones, our mobile phone network is also playing up and I dont like the feeling of not being able to be contacted.

Other than that its paperwork all day, think OH will be doing the housework so thats not too bad. Need to write this weeks meal plan too. Have ironing but I will do that later when Tenko is on. DD is off round her mates in another village, DS will probably be happy here on his own or will go over the park with his mates.

Want to do a load of baking but think that will have to be for another day.

    Have a good one.

    Hi all,

Never posted on this thead before, but have browsed and thought what a lovely, friendly bunch you are - hope you don' mind me butting in !

Funny weekend - hormonal headache which I get every month (like toothache through one eye - not agonising, but uncomfortable and wears you down), so slowed me down a lot and stopped me doing half the things we needed to get done.

Work today - rain pouring down and not exactly looking forward to getting going !

Just going to pull myself some sandwiches together etc for lunch, to avoid the sandwich trolley (£2.50 gone in the blink of an eye, on stuff I don't even like !), then get kids up - DD1 staying at home then walking round to friends house for the day, DD2 going to MILs for the day.

Planning roast pork (freezer) and cauliflower cheeses (still in Mr T's - but DD1 special request !) for tea - must get it out of freezer before I leave.

Plan to clear out kitchen drawers when I get home. Due to have building work start in June (woohoo ! - an extension 10 years in the planning / hoping) and have so much clearing to do before it starts - car load to the tip on Sunday, but barely made a dent in what needs to be shifted !

Still depressed as managed to put my beautiful new mobile phone (birthday present from OH & kids last Wednesday) through the wash on Sunday. Still drying it out, but not much hope. Was sooo chuffed with it - best I've ever had. My fault - stupid moment, seem having a few of those recently ! Need to be more 'present' when I'm doing things, instead of on autopilot and thinking ahead to the next task (or five).

Good luck for the day, all. One step at a time for quite a few of us today, I think ! ((( smoky))))
