Shez: :rotfl: :rotfl: I remember the knee patches you could get, but not ones for the inner thighs

Thanks to bargain shopping trip last week with Nels and Panda, I was able to replace ALL my knackered jeans (2 pairs of Per Una ones which had been from charity shops to begin with and had lasted aaaages, and one pair of fairly flimsy Levis which lasted a disappointing 2 years  ) and not a moment too soon :o The moment I got back I chucked out the holey/about-to-become-holey old ones...

    Morning all,

Slept in late this morning, so I am all behind now, got my bedding in the wm, will hang it out, not sure if its going to rain or not, I hope not, the grass is desperate for a cut.

We are having prawn salad and jacket spud for tea, dd will have fish cakes, she does not like jackets.

Pen Pin, good to hear you are feeling better, shame about your helper, I think I would look for another, as it must take the pressure off of your DH. hugs x

    n9eav, come on NO: 9 :T :T

Rzl, I believe those bins take any condition, even if the clothes are rubbish the charity can sell then, and they get a price per ton.

Smoky, good to hear from you, hugs to you all xx

Kathy, I meant to say the other night, I love the Ray Mears programmes too, but did not like this new series as much as the old one, will keep watching though, I used to like it when he forraged for food then cooked it, not much of that in this programme.

R.mac, why do you keep throwing up ? any news :D

    Well better get on xx

 :naughty::p You can't say things like that on here. It gets grannybroon all excited. :shhh: ;):D

Aussie... I'm sooooooooo pleased you managed to get all the right buses. Have a bit pat on the back from me. :p:DI see OH got a bit fed up waiting for you to come back.

Get well soon Rzl and r.mac

    Sorry about the freezer Ladygrim..

Candygirl...I'm sorry your friend's son is so ill. I hope you have a nice time with her though. xxx

Hope today is better smoky but you really are doing phenominally well. xxx
Arkonite...Do you think you might be taking this veg growing a teensy bit seriously? :p

I had another rude awakening this morning. Last week a chaffinch which nests in the tree outside started hovering at the living room window and pecking it. We thought it was attacking it's reflection but now it has moved up to our bedroom where it is waking me at 5am by flying back and forth and pecking the window 3 times. It started of being quite amusing but now an airgun is looking more appealing by the minute.

This looks like it will be our last sunny day for a while and its very hot so I'm aiming to have all my chores done by lunchtime so I can get out into the garden. The veg patch needs weeded and the rhodadendrons need staked up. So far I've made the beds, floors and dusted. Will do the bathroom now and then prep tea. (tuna pasta bake) Just back from the shops as I'd run out of washing powder and chocolate. :D
Ironing in front of the telly tonight as OH is working late.

    Have a lovely day everyone.

    Haribo x

Shez - no he's not there in body but in spirit - to be truthful we didnt know it was being organised even though I have been trying to keep on top of all our industrys websites/groups.

The goverment is starting to get nasty though - they are threatening to suspend the Operators Licence's of anyone taking part.

Hope it gets things moving though, the Treasury is making millions more on fuel tax and they seem very tight lipped about it.

Fingers crossed something happens - a lot of hauliers such as us havnt been able to pass the cost on to the customers yet but will have no choice soon so obviously the cost of the goods will increase again.

Anyway must get off my soapbox and get on, just having a quick break and a munch of some toast.

    Good morning all!

Welcome to all the new posters:hello:

It's not raining:D And there's me halfway through building an ark:rotfl: All you lot bemoaning you've got rain today, think of us who had it for the bank holiday:p :D Hoping the ground will dry enough to get a bit of gardening done later.

Yesterday I made a huge batch of pumpkin ( butternut squash) soup using Aussies recipe, because DH loves it (thanks Aussie;) ). Went on to improve it even more by bunging in some red and yellow peppers that needed using. (for our overseas friends, capsicums:p :p ) Then I did welsh cakes, and thought of Kazonline, wish she'd come back, she was good fun.

PennyPincher, you're one tough old thing. Two ops Tuesday, home Saturday, I really think you should be pleased with how well you're doing. How old is DD now? Is she old enough to cover the 2 hours of your helper. Perhaps she could *earn* what the helper was paid:confused: Just a thought, and she does know your standards ;)

JackieO, thinking of you. I was sorry to read of the mess up with your radiotherapy. I remember it was the radiotherapy that took it out of my mum more than the chemo, but everyone's different. She had to have 5 weeks worth anyway. Sorry you'll end up with the same length. As long as it does the trick though, eh? That drinkie is just delayed a few more days;)

Well, I really should think about doing something that doesn't involve a keyboard or mouse.:o

Lunch will be soup with HM bread. Oh I tried the Doves malthouse flour half and half with white and it makes a lovely bread. Just enough seeds to be interesting, but not so many as to restrict what you'd want it with, if that makes sense. It is a bit pricey, but only using it 50:50 brings the cost down for a superior bread.

Dinner???? Your guess is as good as mine:o :rotfl:

    Enjoy your days.

(((smoky)))) one day at a time. You really are amazing.

Hi all - just back from running errands and going to the gym and now enjoying a coffee before I get stuck into some office work.

REDRUBY - I have to agree with you - I don't like it when Ray Mears just focuses on a particular person; I love it when he camps out somewhere and has to construct a shelter or an igloo and then has to find his dinner! I hope this new series is not going to carry on in the same vein as the first episode. It was interesting but there was not enough of the 'surviving with just an axe' sort of thing!

Like Essex-Girl's, my DH is with the protesting hauliers in spirit, if not in body. The Government just doesn't realise how essential our army of truck drivers is; my DH is doing different work at the moment but keeps his HGV licence going as a back up. The drivers are taken completely for granted; in fact it would not be long before the UK ground to a standstill without them. I've accompanied my DH on trips in the past and I'm full of admiration for anyone who can drive an articulated truck, let alone reverse one - they should get a massive rebate of road tax and fuel tax otherwise so many of them will have to stop. I was going to say 'rant over' but it's not and won't be until they get a fair deal.

I have just discovered a new charity shop - within walking distance of my house; I've never had such a luxury before. I popped in and bought some Kilner jars, a couple of bangles which I will revamp for Christmas presents and a beautiful little handbag with a sort of Art Deco look - too small to be practical these days but I had to have it - it only cost £1.

Well, I'd better go and do some work - see you later.
