What can I replace bananas with in a recipe

Have got a recipe for banana and butterscotch loaf that I use, which I would like to make today but have no bananas and don't want to go to the shops for one ingredient. The recipe uses 3 bananas, anyone know if I could use dates or something different instead?

This is a rather way-out suggestion but do you have any butternut squash? The flesh is quite sweet and if you were to microwave or boil it until cooked and then mash up an equivalent quantity to three bananas I suspect the end result would turn out quite acceptable. Or you could try something like grated carrot, which is also very sweet, and is regularly used in cake making.0

Don't have any butternut squash but do have lots of carrots so might give them a try. Any other suggestions anyone?0

Sausages?
.....TOP MONEYSAVING TIP
Make your own Pot Noodles using a flower pot, sawdust and some old shoe laces. Pour in boiling water, stir then allow to stand for two minutes before taking one mouthful, and throwing away. Just like the real thing!0 -

Well during World War II when I was a very tiny child, my mother used mashed parnips in baking but that is probably a bit extreme ! I supect apples would work well and help to make a nice moist cake. If you use Bramleys you might need to add some extra sugar as they can be a little tart.0

Re the mashed parsnips, I once made a Parsnip Chocolate Loaf and it was really nice! You could taste the parsnip but only faintly, and it complemented the chocolate well. Will have to try and find the recipe again and post it.0
