Have I made a mistake?
I put a whole pheasant in the slow cooker this morning. When I put the liquid in, the pheasant kind of floated in the liquid (not completely, just a little). Due to this, it was impossible to cover the pheasant completely in liquid, which is what I know I was supposed to do. I'm now panicing it won't have cooked properly.…

Will this soup work?
I've searched through the recipe index and discovered I don't have enough ingredients for any of the soups that use lamb stock! I just boiled up some lamb bones from dinner yesterday (I had a huge lump of lamb, basically double chops but all in one piece, so I roasted it whole then cut the meat off) with onions, carrots…

Hello all, Not sure if anyone uses this, but I've just found a great recipe website - it has everything from food to home made cosmetics. It's got a lot of adverts and the weights and measures are given as American units, but it looks really useful... https://www.recipegoldmine.com Hope this helps someone :)

Bought a whole duck - should I slow cook it?
Half price in Mr T's this morning, so I thought I'd buy one, never cooked one before, I would prefer to slow cook it, do I stab the skin? Would I need to place the duck on a upside down plate to prevent it swimming in fat? I would appreciate any ideas, cooking it tomorrow. Also, I would like to do a homemade orange sauce,…

I'm not what you'd call a comitted Christian, but the Christian year is part of my culture and my kids go to a catholic school so I've been thinking about lent this year which begins on Wednesday. Hazelnut syrup - is there an alternative?
I usually buy this from Whittards to put in coffee but my local store have not had any for some time and neither is it on the website. (According to staff there is a supply problem). Googling and eBaying shows various other versions of it but it's quite pricey especially when you factor in delivery. Do any cooks here know…
