Defrosting beef roasting joint

Hey guys
Have found a Beef roasting joint I'd bought ages ago when it was on offer and have decided I'm making it feed us this week
The problem is I dont know where to start, I've looked through the indexed collections and have some good ideas but my problem is, how do I defrost it?
I know it sounds stupid but sometimes I throw frozen cuts of meat into my slow cooker and leave it overnight and it's always grand but with such a large piece of meat dont think it would work the same
It's 1.2kg and I was going to leave it covered until tomorrow, is this ok to do?

Hiya
I would take it out and defrost overnight. It took about 24 hrs to the below beef joint to defrost on Thursday. I just left it out on the side and was fine.
I cooked a large beef joint in the SC on Friday and it cooked up lovely. Just sealed it in the pan...if too large you could cut in half....then placed in SC with a chopped onion and carrot and some water....it turned out lovely. I took the main piece to my sisters yesterday and kept about a quarter if it and have placed in 2 bags of 5 slices for the freezer for roasts later or sarnies.

Yes, just leave it covered. Stick it in the fridge later.0

Can I put a beef joint in microwave to defrost? I meant to take it out last night but forgot. I took it out around 9.30 am and want to put it in the oven at 1pm but don't want to give everyone food poisoning!

You can, have you got the defrost setting? It's usually the lowest setting on there.
I would never do it with pork or poultry though.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Old style MoneySaving boards.

I would eat something else as I am not a fan of microwave defrosting.
Some joints you can cook from frozen if it is a pck one.If winter comes, can spring be far behind?
Spring begins on 21st March.0 -
Hi MP14:hello:
Now you have put your beef onto cook, i'll merge your thread with a previous one on defrosting beef.
Hope it works out well. I would be quite paranoid about defrosting so wouldn't do it in the microwave myself but i know plenty who do
thanks:)
