Old Style Tuesday 05/06/07
Good morning everyone! Think it's going to be another cracking day here. Everything in the garden is growing well, and we dug our first carrots yesterday :j We ate tea in the garden as it was so lovely. I love it as you don't need to sweep the floor afterwards ;) For those of you (or your famillies) who use MSN messenger,…

Breadmaker with normal shaped loaf?
Evening everyone. Just wondered if anyone can recommend a bread maker that makes a normal shaped loaf. I have a JML breadmaker that is about 8 years old, it makes the dough nicely, but doesn't bake brilliantly anymore, also the timer has been broken for about 3 years! So I have decided that the time has come to treat…

Bread Machine Bagel recipe and tips please
My names Pooky and I'm a bagel-o-holic! Sad but true... but they are prohibitively expensive so I decided to make them myself. I had a crack using a recipe I found online over the weekend... and results were quite good in terms of taste and texture but I'd appreciate any fail-proof recipe ideas... and also any tips on the…

Removing wax from wood
I had 3 candles burning on a glass plate thingy and they overflowed onto my unvarnished wooden table. Actually I think one ofthe candles exploded a bit (whoops, I was out of the room, slapped wrist for me). Any ideas on how to remove it? I have tried scraping it with a knife but I'm scraping more wood than wax.

Recipe for tomatoey rice thing?
My mum used to make a really nice tomatoey rice thing. It was eaten cold in summer as a kind of salad dish. And now my sister really wants the recipe. I have a feeling it will be something simple, like just adding tin of chopped tomatoes to rice. But has anyone ever made anything like that and has tips?

How have you benefited from drinking Kefir?
I have been making Kefir for the past two weeks. As it's so disgusting on its own I disguise it in a fruit smoothie which tastes great! I am curious to know what those of you who are still making/drinking it think about it's benefits? Does it cure bloating, improve digestion, help IBS etc...?

Scotch Pancakes/dropped scones
My granny used to make these but I don't have a recipe. She never weighed anything and it was only a simple recipe I'm sure. Probably just self raising flour, an egg, sugar and milk. I know for sure Golden Syrup was in the mix too. Anyone know what the recipe might have been?

8" Springform tin - Help needed!
Hi, keeping in with OS, I am embracing baking. The problem I'm having is that every recipe I look at requires a different size tin, and I can't afford to buy them all.
