You can def freeze wine anyway although some freezes better than others (some seem to end up going slush-puppy ish, maybe to do with alcohol content. It's fine for sauces etc. not sure about beer though.

It doesn't ever happen in our house though unless the wine is horrible...

Wine is definitely ok to freeze, I just stick mine in a little freezer bag and tie it up and pop it in. Nigella Lawson does it on her cooking programme too! Really easy to keep just a little bit for cooking.

It will stay slushy due to the alcohol content.

Not sure about beer though..not ever tried that. Possibly not due to the fizzy characteristics. I know my Grandad froze coke once and that popped the can due to the pressure.

Wine.... Left over... :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

If that ever happens to me, and its not often ;) then I boil it to reduce it by half then freeze in either bags or small containers. That way it takes up less space in the freezer and also tastes better once boiled and reduced. Perfect for dropping into a casserole for yummy flavour :j

I also keep a box of cheap red wine (Tesco Sicilian is absolutely perfect) in the cupboard for cooking with - we never have a spag bol or casserole without it anymore :p It lasts for ages once opened as no air gets inside to the vacuum bag.

I wouldn't use lager in your beef in beer recipe.

    Hope that helps :)
