What to do with goats cheese

Options
Hi All

Just started a dairy free diet and wondering what to have for tea. I want to make something quick with goats cheese but since I've never had it before I don't know if/how it cooks

Any tips?

Goats' Cheese is dairy...I'm guessing you mean cow dairy. I like it in an omelette.

    Hi there
Is it the hard goats cheese, the one with a rind(a bit rubbery) or the one a bit like solid philladelphia? sorry to be a pain...but the one like philli is gorgeous if you slice tomatoes and onion lay it on a plate..drop one bits of the goats cheese on..some basil leaves if you have them and then just drizzel with olive oil and balsamic vinegar...this is also nice on toast...just pop under the grill to warm through...mmmmm

I often use it in a salad with sundried tomatoes.

I have also used it to stuff chicken breast and then wrap it in parma ham.

I use it in omelettes with red onion.

    I do love goats cheese!

Well I had it on sliced french bread with grilled vine tomatos and black pepper. It was bloody lovely.

I've really been missing out all these years. I forced my husband to taste it and he agrees goats cheese is lovely. Pity its so expensive £1.69 for the tiniest little bit!

Marks and Spencer do a nice small goats cheese that's only 99p, and it's really creamy and mild. I usually get mine from the farmers market as it works out a lot cheaper than the supermarkets, and I like to do a sort of free-form tarte thing with it; just roll out some readymade puff pastry and crumble over some goats cheese, and scatter over some chopped red onions that you've softened in a little butter, and some thyme leaves. Brush the edges of the pastry with melted butter and bake until the pastry's golden - lovely!

I make goats cheese and leek cannelloni - sweat the leeks off, stir in the goats cheese and put into the tubes. Cover with tomato sauce and bake - gorgeous.

We are also dairy free in terms of any cows cheese - good ones to look out for are feta, roquefort, pecorino and manchego which are all made from ewes milk - just check the labels. I find ds1 and I are ok with these in small quantities
