How to polish a silver (?) cup
Good morning Last year I won a cup at a dinner, and have to give this cup back at tonight's annual dinner. It like a trophy and the metal is meant to be silver coloured, but looks a bit 'red'. My mum would normally have cleaned/polished it for me, but having moved out, I haven't got that luxury any more! Do you have any…

The recipes that made me pack away my breadmaker
I have a life long passion for real bread having been raised on the real stuff in Italy. Bagged, sliced stuff just isn't bread for me! ;) I thought my dreams had come true when I got a breadmaker but soon realised the recipes weren't giving me the texture I was after. I found these wonderful recipes and since trying them I…

Walnuts in disguise
Hello all, bit of a random one this! I got a reduced Christmas Cake mix from Tescos which was too cheap to miss for a fruitcake lover like me, but it came with a bag of roughly chopped walnuts to add along with the dried fruit. I hate walnuts so I left them out and added some more fruit, but now I've got this bag with…

Natural Moth Repellent
We've moved a large heavy sideboard to decorate and found an infestation of case bearing clothes moths in the carpet which has been well chomped on. OH has hoovered area VERY thoroughly with vacuum cleaner (super suction Henry) and I've googled to see how I can prevent a further infestation. I've read that cedar shavings,…

Bunk Beds
DS1 has a bunk bed which he adores . But am the only one who finds it really awkward to change the bedding on the top bunk ? I have to change the bedding twice weekly and I am sure there is an easier way than the way I do it. I know it sounds daft and I am sure someone has a brilliant way to share .

Sealing Rings for Kilner/Le Parfait Jars
A couple of mine have been used for chutneys so smell a bit "vinegary". Instead of replacing them with new, can I use them again? Would bicarb of soda rid them of the smell?

I had a nice meal last night and feel I should share.....
Had a nice pasta dish last night and feel the urge to share it (although it may already be somewhere on the recipe index list!) Browned some sausages (irish recipe ones - yellow stickered of course - and cut up into pieces) with some smart price bacon pieces. Bunged in a tin of campbells condensed tomato soup (99% fat…
