DS1 has a bunk bed which he adores . But am the only one who finds it really awkward to change the bedding on the top bunk ? I have to change the bedding twice weekly and I am sure there is an easier way than the way I do it. I know it sounds daft and I am sure someone has a brilliant way to share .

I get OH to do it for me as he's taller!! :rotfl:working on clearing the clutterDo I want the stuff or the space?0 -
When I was living with my parents I had a cabin bed that my dad made me. It was very high, level with the top of the door, and there was only about 2'6" clearance to the ceiling. I had a sort of mattress topper thing that is like a thin pallet and I just used to put a fitted sheet on that. The pallet kind of concertinad up which made it easy to put the sheet on and then I flattened both out togehter. I didn't use a top-sheet or blankets, just a duvet. I was in secondary school when my dad built me that bed and I had to change the sheet myself because it was easier for me to climb the ladder and move about in the restricted space between the bed and the ceiling than my mum but I can see you might not be able to pass the job over to your son if he is a littley.0

Depends on how old he is, but I'd try to make it his job. If it's a fitted sheet, he just needs to climb up, get the 1st two corners on, then pull the sheet tight, kneel on it to do the other 2.
I'd definitely want a quilt rather than sheets and blankets on a top bunk too.May all your dots fall silently to the ground.0 -

LOL ...that has always been plan A
However , some good ideas ....I have already got the duvet instead of blankets , do you think a 6 yr old would be able to master a fitted sheet ? with help at the other end, I dont think it would be too taxing .....0 -
Sorry should have though to add - yes the boys have fitted sheets and then quilts on them - would never bother with blankets and flat sheets etc!!working on clearing the clutterDo I want the stuff or the space?0

I dont think there is a easy way to change top bunks!!
Just gets easyier with practise lol, and like you said only a bottom sheet then quilt on top!!lolProud to be DEBT FREE AT LAST0 -
Step ladders
Only way I managed DS1s high up bed alone. Either that or I push the mattress up and off from underneath (but this really hurts my back) put the sheet on then put it back on. My 5 year old has started helping with the sheet if they are home when I do them, he does the far side, then I do the one closer to me where I can reach after he passes it, but it does tend to come off.
One day I might be more organised...........

My boys have bunks. I used to hate changing both of them - you either can't reach or you bag your head on the one above. Then I had a brainwave - I make them do it themselves
Been doing it for about 2-3 years. They are 9 and 11 now. During term time I put the duvets in the covers and they do the fitted sheets and pillow cases. In school hols they do it all themselves0
