TIP - Fitted sheets are easier to handle if you fit diagonally opposite corners.

    Mortgage-free Glee!
I struggle with our bunks - I stand on the kids step that they have at the sink to wash their hands - and then I lift the mattress up onto the side bit of the bed, and roberts your mothers brother - done!

I remember years ago climbing the ladder and just about wrestling with the bedding. DGS1 now in top bunk - will try and remember to ask DD how she is doing it. Would imagine that now DGC3 on way she might struggle once she gets the bump! Reckon SIL might have to be roped in!

DGS1 loves his top bunk. I sleep on bottom one if I stay over. Last time there a wee voice said at 6.15 in the morning - 'Granny, Granny Brown are you there? Are you awake? Can I come down for a cuddle? I love you!' Brings tears to the eyes but my DGSs so close to DH and I compared to DD and DS to their grandparents when young. Very not so hands on when I could have done with it, hence what I do for DD and SIL everything I can.

When DGS1 came along I totally made it easy for him to stay here, with travel cot, spare clothes, nappies etc here. My daughter started expressing milk but we decided that formula in a bottle for one night wouldn't harm and it didn't. It was just reassuring (did same with GS2) but was reassuring that they took a bottle from me which then gave them a break. DD fed both boys until a year old so feel they have got a really good start. She also cooks so many good things for them but jars did play a part in the weaning years! I love being a granny and I think grandsons appreciate everything and I know they love me unconditionally. Not doing it for gratification - I just love them totally to bits!!

I have slightly gone very off subject but sure you will forgive!

I loathe bunk beds yet somehow have ended up with 2 sets:rotfl:
DS2's bunks have matteresses that are really tight in the wooden frame so I do struggle. I do on a weekend when Oh is home - after reading this realising I am letting DS1 (nearly12) off scot free - new house rules ....he will make his own bed!!! His bunks are easy to change (its a double at the bottom so lots of climbing space!!)

Is there a reason for changing twice a week? I only change beds every week to two weeks. topping, tailing and turning duvets round unless a bug or illness then change immediately to irradicate bugs. Top and tail and turn duvet over after one week and I think all OK. Am I minging? Just saving time and washing!

No GB you are most definately not minging.....!!!!!!!!I don't change that often I plan/aim for once a week and if it is then its a bonus...sometimes its nearer 2. Obviously if there is illness its more frequent...DS3 nasty chest infection at mo and his cot bedding is being changed every other day.

Well yes, didn't think I was minging! Only do more regularly when good reason for family. Do it for DH and I now on our own, but we tend to sleep different beds if hugely with cold bugs over winter to try and irradiacate bugs! And I hoover mattress.

Could I suggest a sleeping bag with a washable liner?
