Hi All!
I now I'm being a bit thick, but can anyone tell me a recipe for chicken pasta bake. I have some leftover chicken and fancy making some for dinner tonight.
Please can you help? I have looked on the recipe index but when I click on one of the recipes nothing comes up.
Thank you for your time.

Hiya,
I've just checked a few chicken links in the MEGA Index and the Old Style Recip Collection and they've all worked for me - though it must be said that the forum has a few technical problems at the moment so maybe that's what got you.
Anyway, I googled a recipe for you, perhaps you can adapt this one to suit your tastes...

This is what I do - adapted from a recipe I found on the web a while ago. It makes approx 6 substantial portions.
4 chicken breasts (or could be adapted to use bits of ready cooked chicken)
1 red pepper and 1 yellow pepper
a bunch of spring onions
a jar of tomato and herb sauce, or do your own with passata and herbs
a small punnet of mushrooms
2 lumps mozzarella
500g fusilli pasta
Seasoning - Salt and pepper to taste and a slug of Lea and Perrins.
Put the pasta on to boil.
Chop up and fry the peppers, chicken, spring onions, mushrooms. (If using raw chicken, add first. If using cooked chicken, add last.)
Drain the pasta, mix in the tomato sauce (seasoned to taste) and then mix in all the chicken and veg from the frying pan.
Put in an oven dish (two medium sized dishes are better than one huge one), rip up the mozzarella, and scatter over the top.
Bake at GM4 until cheese is bubbling and going golden (15-20 mins)

Make a gorgeous pasta bake last night. Cooked pasta first then added chicken soup and chicken then topped with grated cheese and crushed ready salted crisps, then put undergrill until cheeese melted. Yum!0

Firstly let me explain that I am a terrible cook and rely too heavily on processed ready made jars.
But tonight I have no food in and the online shop arrives tomorrow mid day.
Was hoping to do a Chicken and pasta bake and now thinking how I planned to do it might not work!
Can you have a look over and give me some suggestions? I am not used to making up things as I go along and normally follow recipes to the letter. (although the results are never like the pictures!!) Besides all the receipes I have googled seem too complicated and need ingredients I haven't got!
Pasta (do I need to cook it first if so roughly how long as will be going in the oven?)
Chicken...will brown and seal in wok first along with some mushrooms. Is it worth chucking in an onion? Drain off any fat and add either passata or tinned tomatos. (what do you think will be better?) Add some dried mixed herbs.
Combine all together and put in my lasagne dish.
Baked for 30/40mins?? Fan assisted oven so was thinking 180.
Please help as if I pull this off OH will be well impressed!0 -
It sounds fine. i would partly cook the pasta beforehand unless doing it on a really long slow cook with more sauce. yes go for the onion. if you use tinned toms just chop them up with kitchen scissors whilst they are still in the tin.
You need something to stop the top burning , either cheese, breadcrumbs or maybe a mixture - i like cheese, breadcrumbs and some crushed nuts.
are you using a stock cube, salt and pepper?
good luck;) I'm sure you will be fine!Member no.1 of the 'I'm not in a clique' group :rotfl:

Sounds perfect to me. I would part cook the pasta (probably for five minutes or so), I find it works a bit better, I would probably add an onion and I would either use the passata or I would blend the tinned tomatoes and make them a bit more like a sauce (perhaps some dried herbs?) and then bung it all in together and stick it in the oven.
Good luck! I find that although recipes sound difficult if you're inexperienced it's better to follow recipes rather than get disillusioned by failure!Piglet

Thanks Sarah
Do you mean Stock cube, Salt and pepper to season or do I need to make stock up? Got Beef or Veg stock cubes.
Can top with cheese....not a clue about breadcrumbs, Must goggle but as hardly any bread will use cheese.0 -
That sounds pretty good to me:D
I would use the onion, lightly softened with the mushrooms, to add flavour. Passata or tinned toms will be fine. I like chunks of tomato so tend to use toms, but if you prefer it smoother go with the passata.
I would cook the pasta, but only lightly, so it is still quite al dente. If you've pre-cooked your chicken I would think only 20-30 minutes oven time. If you like it, some cheese sprinkled over the top would be yummy, and will give a great colour.
Good luck.
oops too slow at typing. Personally I wouldn't use a stock cube, you should have enough flavour from your ingredients. You never get a second chance to make a first impression.0 -
Thanks Piglet.
Think I will use the Passata like suggested as strange as it sounds I don't really like tomatoes and hate the pips!!
Really trying to make more of an effort to cook from stratch as want our 10mth old son to eat more of what we eat.0 -
