Chicken Pasta Bake

I know there are a lot of recipes on here for leftovers and such like, but I have a certain recipe in mind and just wondered if people thought it would work and how I should go about trying to make it.
I cooked a chicken last night and we ate the legs and wings, so I have two chicken breasts left. I have pasta and I have Bisto Cheese sauce and I was thinking of somehow chucking them all together and have a nice chicken pasta bake. But I don't know about timings, temperature or quantities or even if the idea is a good one (i.e. does cheese sauce bake well?, do chicken and cheese go together?).
I was also thinking of sprinkling cheese and ready salted crisps on top. Not sure if I am creating a nightmare!:rotfl:Pink Sproglettes born 2008 and 2010

Can I suggest that you don't use both chicken breasts, but just one? Then you will have enough to make another meal from0

I don't know about the bisto sauce but I make this quite often with h/m cheese sauce for my children who are always asking for this for tea.
The sauce bakes well and I bulk it out with sweetcorn and bacon if we have some hanging about and then put breadcrumbs and grated cheese on top although have used crisps in the past but these days they are eaten before I can get my hands on them.0 -
Pollyanna - this will work providing you like chicken and cheese together. Try it with one chicken breast and adding extra veg as mentioned - don't always assume you n eed to use the two! Crisps on top is good, will make it nice and crunchy.
Not sure if cheese on cheese sauce would be a cheese overload though. I would bake it at 180 for 20mins to start with - an check frequently - cook to your taste.(Mine would be crunchy!)
As for quantities , i would fry up some onion and bacon as mentioned - and would also add frozen peas and sweetcorn. As you don't have set quantities I would do it by eye. You will know once it is in the dish etc if you need to give in and add the other chicken breast.
Just also to show you, a thread on making your own cheese sauce if you feel adventurousA little nonsense now and then is relished by the wisest men

Thanks for everyone's answers.
Right. So I will cook the pasta and sweetcorn first.
Then make up the cheese sauce using the kettle and water (bear with me, I need help!).
Then in a casserole dish, put cubed cooked chicken breast, cooked pasta, cooked sweetcorn. Pour over sauce and mix.
Scatter crisps on top.
Put in preheated over (180degrees) for 20 minutes.
Does this sound like a plan?! Thanks guys!
(Just double checking - I don't need to heat chicken before putting in oven?)Pink Sproglettes born 2008 and 2010

Hi Pollyanna, if you fancy something a bit different but on the same lines I make the following regularly and my lot love it!
Chicken (usually leftovers from a previous roast), Chorizo or bacon, onions fried with a bit of garlic and a few chilli flakes, salt and pepper. Fry them all together in a big pan then add tinned tomatoes or passata and simmer for ten minutes. Taste and add more seasoning, chilli or whatever (sometimes I add paprika). Cook your pasta and just mix it all together in a big dish. Then when ready to heat through I throw some grated cheese on top and bake till hot and the cheese is bubbling. Serve with garlic bread and salad or some green beans.
Hope your cheesy one turns out ok:)Started Self Managed DMP 10th May 2017.

I meant to add earlier that it works better if you make the sauce slightly looser than you would usually and slightly undercook the pasta as it keeps cooking in the sauce and could end up quite stodgy.0

Hi all,
I'm making Pasta Bake tonight - the idiot proof one:D where you just put the sauce on the pasta and shove in the oven. I'll be frying some diced chicken in the wok with some onions and wondered at what point shall I add it to the pasta - I don't want it to go in at the beginning because I will have some black cinders for chicken:eek:
Any advice please
Thank you0 -
