Changed V5C address, didn't get the new one yet. Can't tax my car?!
Hiya! Changed my V5C online a few days ago. I can see online that the new V5C was issued on the same day I've done it. My tax expires tomorrow. So I wanted to tax it. Only to find out that I need the number from the latest V5C, which I don't have! Bit of a pickle?! Are there any other ways to tax a car? I don't have the…

Can I get AC fitted to my car?
Hi, I drive a 2011 Volkswagen Polo Moda. This car comes with heating as standard, but no air con, despite the knobs, dials and vents for AC all being included. Since it already has the infrastructure needed for air con, could I have it fitted? And would anybody be able to guess how much it would cost? Thanks!

Car tax renewal: Am I losing out, or missing something
I have just renewed my car tax online today (30/06/20) as it was due to expire tomorrow (01/07/2020... obviously). I was only given the option to begin the tax run from the start of this month (1st June). Surely I am losing a month of tax here having already paid for it in last years run?!? Checking through dates of the…

I bought my company car when I retired. The registration plate is on a V778 with the company named as the Grantee but I am the registered keeper on the V5C. The company agreed the plate moved with the car. When I come to sell the car how do I transfer the plate if the ex owner (my company) is on the V778 ?

This came off after hitting a curb
I drive a 2014 Chrysler 300. I didn’t turn wide enough and I struck the curb. As a result this came off. Does anyone know what this is? Should I be worried?

We buy any car devaluation
I sometimes value my car on webuyanycar.com It's interesting to see how long you can own a car without any depreciation. It's been worth about £500 for the last few years. Last week it was just over £500. Today it's £50. Less than 10% of its value a week ago. What's going on? The fuel in it is worth more than that.

Car Hit While Parked
Good Afternoon, My car was hit in March while stationary outside my house by my partners ex-boyfriend in the early hours of the morning. The incident was reported to the police and various witness statements were taken, they even admitted to me while taking my statement that they had the driver in custody and his car which…

What does this breakdown clause mean?
I got my Greenflag renewal and they’ve changed some things. One of them I don’t understand. It used to say that if the garage is closed, they’ll take the car home and pick it up again the next day. Now it says this: ”If the repairer’s closed and you ask us to take your vehicle home (as long as your home is within 10 miles…

Is it possible to increase PCH with VWFS?
In March next year my current three year PCH contract for a Skoda with VW Financial Services will come to an end. The contract I am on was for 35,000 miles (105,000 in total). During the first year of the contract I changed job location and greatly reduced my daily travel, and the Corona virus has reduced it even further…

Beware Tom Tom auot-renew charges for speed camera
Hi, I just had an amazing experience with Tom Tom suddenly charging my bank account £2.99 / month for speed camera that I did not authorise. Allegedly they gave me one month free after the last expiry (I did not renew due to covid) and then they aparently set it to auto renew monthly. Additionally - when I queried the…

2015 Clio when is major service required.
2015 Clio service plan 2nd service completed today, which means chargeable services from 2021. I'll choose from standard 119 or major 179. Is for example 20k approx miles a decent time to replace spark plugs air+fuel filters,. These are the differences I view as reason to opt for major service next year. Plan is then to…

Car finance, what to do
Hi all, I'd love some opinions or help with what I'm thinking. My husband has a work runabout (2004 VW Polo), I have a Ford Focus (2017) and have just purchased a 2002 Audi TT (for a bit of fun). Since getting the TT the Focus hasn't moved off the drive and I realise that actually we don't need 3 cars. I have the…

Misrepresentation on car sale
Hi there all I have recently bought a nearly new car advertised as a 200BHP model. The contract of sales also described the car as a 200BHP model . 2 weeks down the line I find out it is a 150BHP model - at least £2k cheaper than the £20k I spent on it . I negotiated £4k off the asking price and as a result agreed a basic…

Electric cars, VED and would you change yet ?
Local radio phone in about this, some said yes, many said no,. The No's mainly said because nowhere off-road for them to charge, lack of infrastructure, how much more than equivalent petrol, lack of second-hand models, and expensive servicing and repairs as very few independent garages will touch them so main dealer only…

MOT - Used Car
I'm purchasing a car hopefully next Monday all going well with inspection. As part of the sale the dealer has said they will MOT the vehicle. I've checked GOV.UK and all it shows is MOT extension until Nov 2020 due to Covid19. Thinking of phoning the dealer prior to seeing the vehicle to check MOT will definitely be done.…

HP Contract dispute with VW
Hi, A bit of back story on this situation. 4 years ago I was offered an amazing deal from VW, after I signed for the car, the day I was meant to pick up the car, I had a phone call telling me they couldn't honour the agreement. I then kicked up a fuss which they then said they would honour the deal, the second time I went…

Salary sacrifice tax implications on an electric company car?
Hi there, I am currently employed and I'm looking at getting a fully electric car leased through the company I am working for. From my understanding the monthly payments for the car will be deducted from my salary before tax; therefore this sounds very attractive as am I higher tax bracket earner, so I am saving 40% income…
