Which Valuation for car?
Hi all :) Has anyone recently sold a car? I am just trying to find the correct valuation for my car (bought brand new 2005, done only 7000 miles). Would be grateful for any advice. Should I rely on 1. parkers.co.uk £4 :( 2. all other free valuation sites, but they all give a range of values from £1650-4240 Is one site more…

Motorway / Cross country Car
Hi All, I've been pondering over buying an XC90 for a while now. I do a mixture of motorway / town (A & B Roads) driving for my job and I'd like something a little bigger than my Passat. My job means I can be motorway / city based one day, but rural and countryside the next. The XC90 seems to tick most of the boxes,…

Claiming for Recovery
Hi all, Two weeks ago I put a deposit down on a used car (2001 Mercedes S-Class), and as part of the agreement, the dealer would ensure the ABC suspension system was in good working order and fixed as necessary, with a one month warranty on it specifically. This is clearly written on the receipt. I picked the car up on…

NHS leasing
Hi, Wondered if anyone has taken a lease car since they changed the scheme last year? I had one in 2012 but the tax implications were worse than I expected (despite it only being a 1.4 corsa) and at the time, our expenses were reduced significantly on leasing, though I understand they've changed that now. My PCP is up in…

Buying ex-motability car?
I just looked at a 2011 C3 Picasso at Arnold Clark and after a few questions about the "1 previous owner", it turns out it is an ex-motability car. I asked if I could see all the service records and they interestingly weren't available but they said they were going to contact the previous owner to ask questions and get the…

The car will be used for doing the shopping, odd days out etc. Im also seeing it as an…

Am I stuffed with this car excess??
Ok, noticed about 3 weeks ago that some undesirable had taken out their anger on my pride and joy and have keyed a few scratches on 2 different panels. Annoyed was an understatement as my insurance excess is £200! But I had to get it repaired so have to bear that excess. As if that wasn't bad enough, I very very foolishly…

Don't forget to declare all mods!
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-wales-south-west-wales-31064998 Like many mods, a bit garish and poor taste. But damned them insurers can be sticklers when it comes to undeclared mods. If a bunch of stickers and an extra fag lighter socket can void your policy, what will be next? Baby-on-board stickers, air fresheners, non…

Trading Car In - To fix or not to fix?
Morning all, So I am looking to get a new car as my 5 yr old car (was a couple of years in when I got it) has clocked up a fair few miles now (60k) and with a couple of years of the finance left, it does not seem economically viable to do so. Unfortunately the car had a couple of war wounds which the dealer is bound to…

Fuel gauge not working after private sale
Hi all I bought a used BMW on Friday and drove it an hour home and thought it was odd that I didn't use much fuel. Wife used it yesterday and it still say half tank but the computer says only 50 miles left! I filled up and it hasn't moved. I asked him for any known issues and he said there were none. The fuel gauge can't…

A word of warning when buying a car insurance policy online with Diamond Car insurance. Yesterday, I took out a policy for my daughter & paid £1500 in full.
