Urgent help with vehicle tax issue
I'm hoping there is somebody in the know on this "unique" situation.
I moved home about 3 months ago but had not changed my address on driving licence or V5C...
I sent this off last week and it's not yet returned... however my tax is due to expire 01/02/2015 according to my tax disk...
problem is when I sent it all off I stupidly didn't tear off the "new keeper supplement" (V5C/2)... so basically, no V5C, no V5C/2 no V11.
I have tried calling the number on the gov.uk website but all I get is an automated service asking for the same info as the website with no option to speak to anybody, (although I do not think anybody will answer being a Sunday anyway).
Does anybody know if
A. I will be able to drive my car tomorrow?
B. Will my insurance be invalid if I do?
C. Will I be fined the £1,000?
obviously I cannot SORN as again you need the V5c for this too!!

A) Yes
No
C) Maybe maybe not
PS you VED expired at 2359hrs 31/1/15
Not sure why you didn't renew the VED in advance, you are not saving anything by waiting until the 11th hour.0 -

I did try to tax on 31/12/2014 as thought expiry was 01/01/2015 but website then wanted to tax from 01/12/2014.... being January is always a tough month so money was used for other things, I don't get paid until the last working day of the month (so 30/01/15 this month) by which time my V5 had already been sent off...
thanks for the reply!0 -

No worries on the reply! Even if you did go to renew on the 31/1/14 you could have just waited until the next day or anytime in the month, it doesn't really matter what time of year it is, it's all about budgeting.0 -
Getting DVLA documents right and sorted must now be number 1 priority when moving.
The fines are extortionate they apply them with a rod of iron now and they do not do excuses.I do Contracts, all day every day.0
