Don't forget to allow for the door to be opened
Ideally a single garage needs be 3M wide, sometimes you can get away with 2.5M, car dimensions are available on the web.
  • Spicy .. of course but that's taking forever .. each one individually ... and then many only show for current model and older ones vary .... hence why looking for one place i could hopefully see all together.

Darich .. Thanks re Parkers ... certainly better than having to go on individual manufacturers sites .

Whatcar has dimensions as well, but there's no way I know of to search for a car by width.

How wide is the garage (door, and space for the car door opening)?

All passenger cars are more or less the same widths apart from super minis. When your park you car on the street you should see the offside mirror and notice that all cars line up.

They're all usually built with a standard max width in mind so they can fit inside parking bays, lanes, garages etc. All cars need to use the same roads & parking spaces - dont forget.

Unfortunately the single garages most people have were built before modern cars and many are barely wide enough. When I had a garage I nailed some cheap carpet tiles to the garage wall on the side where I opened the driver's door to offer a bit of extra protection to the paintwork.
