odd starting problem

hi, I have a 61 suzuki swift. I've noticed in the past few days that when I start the car whilst it's facing downhill it takes a good few seconds to start. it's a push button start car. wonder what could be the problem? thanks!

What's push button got to do with it? Doesn't make sense.
Some cars prime the pump when you open the driver's door, perhaps this car doesn't adopt that system or that parking on a slope allows too much fuel rich mixture for a nice easy start.

only reason I mentioned it is cos when I had a key start car and it was having issues starting, I could press the accelerator to help it along but I can't do it here cos my foot has to be on the brake otherwise pressing the button doesn't do anything. anyway, it's perfect on the level or even uphill, downhill seems to be the issue weirdly.

I guess the key and keyless models were different MFR year?
As many cars now you have to apply the footbrake or clutch to start them, whether it be key or keyless .
You say you can't do that now because one foot has to be on the brake pedal, I trust you have lost a limb?
  • Pressing the throttle on a modern car while starting will do absolutly nothing anyways, no mater what Dave down the pub says he has to do to get his brand new car going. OP with regard to your problem, it does sound like a fuel issue, does the amount of fuel in the car have an effect? IE it doesn't happen with a full tank etc. also might be worth getting a garage to check for any fault codes.
