New Car Woes
Hi All, I just recently bought a new car (a Ford Ka). It wasn't my first choice and I don't feel happy with it. Has anyone else had this issue and what have you done? What are my rights, I feel a bit daft phoning up and saying 'I don't like it can you take it back?' I picked it up at the start of the month. Your advice is…

Who can I tell?
A private property owner near where I live has allowed the shrubs in their front garden grow towards the footpath so that they are now obscuring the line of sight around a bend, for vehicles emerging from a road junction. Who should I report this too? Please could anybody advise me. Many Thanks.

Here's £4k- Go and buy me a car!
A family member has very kindly offered to pay for a "new" car for me at around £3/4000. However it's been SO long since I last purchased a car I don't know what to look for in a good deal. I always used to buy private, and I want to avoid any kind of finance deal, owning a cheaper car outright is more important to me than…

Are Audi Dealership clutching at straws?
Morning all. My Audi A1 is heading into the dealership tomorrow (again) for them to look for a fault. It's a 2011 (June) 1.4 TFSI petrol. What happens is that when I start the car from cold (usually a gap of about 4 hours is enough for the problem to occur) there is a 'cough' or a 'stutter' before the engine fires. To be…

Is anyone using car pooling/ride through blahblah in UK?
Is anyone using car pooling/ride through blahblah in UK? Is it safe to take a ride using portals like blahblah in UK for some unplanned journeys between the cities? Any issues with insurance etc ? It is very economical and environmental friendly but appears to be not many takers yet !

Car trembles when starting
Hi, Apologies for the absence of technical vocabulary to explain this. The car is a 6yo Ford Focus. It starts fine but after 20 yards, I have to stop and turn into a bit of an uphill street. There the car will just tremble a bit and feel underpowered as I am letting go of the clutch and starting on the uphill. That only…

Advice please: Scratched another car
My other half has scratched another car slightly when he's misjudged a turn in a car park, he claims it was only a minor mark but on a new-ish car. We're obviously going to have to pay for the repairs and I'm fine with that. We're opting to pay ourselves rather than pushing up our insurance by claiming via them. The other…

blckwall tunnel average speed check? dud camera or real?
Whenever I drive southbound, everyone is doing around 40mph on the downward slope and then 35mph on the upward slope. But the speed limit is 30mph and supposedly moniotered using average speed checks. I stick to the 30 limit, as I sped through a few times there at 40 and panicked myself that I might have a speeding ticket…

Suggestions for which car to get?
I'm about to start a new job and can now afford a new car. I have three teenagers so would still like something large enough for them to have space in the rear seats. My annual mileage will be about 15000 miles. My budget will be about £250 per month. Don't mind hatchback or saloon and will probably go for a diesel.

Vauxall Astra Gearbox
My girlfriends vauxall astra suddenly broke down today and was towed to a garage, who informed her that the gearbox needed to be replaced. The car was purchased brand new 2.5 years ago and has only 20,000 on the clock and a full service history. She has been quoted £1600 for a new gearbox and the garage. Can there be a…

Are Vauxhall mechanics guessing for repairs??
Hi, I would love some advice please. I have a Antara 57 plate that's just past 50 000 miles. I started having problems a few weeks ago with misfiring between 2 and 2.5 rpm and a puff of black smoke out the exhaust when i put my foot down. I booked the car into Vauxhall and after a diag test they suggested I replace the…

Breakdown - do you get what you pay for?
I'm currently with AutoAid for my breakdown cover. Before I took out the policy with AutoAid, I read into people's experiences with other breakdown companies such as RAC, AA and Green Flag. Some experiences were good and some were bad. Although most of the experiences of AutoAid were good. When it comes to breakdown cover…

Multi Car Insurance
Can you use your no claims bonus on multiple policies? e.g. Use your no claims on car 1, and buy a second car and use it on that too? Or only one policy at a time? Is the NCB taken into account as named driver or the car? Cheers, Sam

Odd noise from air con, Mondeo (2008)
2008 2.0L petrol Mondeo - when the aircon fan is running, it is slightly noisy. Sounds like a background resonance/vibration that comes and goes. Most noticeable on the lowest fan setting - not terribly noisy, but annoying! Also, the fan speed seems to vary a bit - it slows down as if struggling slightly, then goes back to…

Voluntary termination - quick question
Hi all. We voluntary terminated my wifes car finance, and the car was picked up today. The guy who came did an inspection on the car, and picked up some things that they say we need to pay for. My wife signed the inspection document as "disagreeing to the above". The damage was: bumper rear (scratched) £72 qtr panel near…
