New Car Woes

Hi All,
I just recently bought a new car (a Ford Ka). It wasn't my first choice and I don't feel happy with it. Has anyone else had this issue and what have you done? What are my rights, I feel a bit daft phoning up and saying 'I don't like it can you take it back?'
I picked it up at the start of the month.
Your advice is appreciated!!

If it wasn't your 1st choice why did you purchas it?
I suppose you could take it back, but expect to be out of pocket somewhat.0 -
Exactly when did you purchase the car? Did you buy cash or take out finance?0

This is my first car. I've taken out finance on it. My dad seems to think i can just phone them as it is within 30 days.0

If you opt out of the finance, you will still have to pay for the car by another means.
Why is it so bad? If you are a new young driver, it seems a good choice (it isn't French after all).0 -

If its a Fiat built KA its a brilliant little runabout, excellent build quality all the advantages of the 500 but better suspension setup.
and you don't have to use Fiat dealers.
Live with it for a while - you'll grow to love it.0 -

Dream on! It is yours to do with as you choose (as long as you tell the finance company).
Your options are to trade it in for a different car- you will take a £ hit, or you can pay the finance company back and then sell it privately and take a £ hit.
What ever you do you will be out of pocket by a lot.0 -
As others have said its not as simple as bringing it back, new car dealers do not tend to operate a no quibble refund.Your new Ka lost a percentage of its value as soon as you drove from the showroom,im not up to speed on values these days but certainly it lost at least £1000.
If you can afford to take the hit on trading it in again to the same dealer you should get top trade in price as its only done a few miles but even top price will be well down on what you paid.
As tiexen said its a pretty good and reliable car with little wrong with it so if you look at what it may cost you now to change you may be better keeping it.Out of curiosity what was your first choice of car?0 -
I thought they were supposed to be good little runarounds? The last Ka I drove was the 'old type' model and that was a great little courtesy car.
If I were you i'd stick with it for a while and see how you get on, but if you seriously can't stand it and want to take it back there is nothing wrong with it then be prepared to take a hit financially.
I don't mean to sound harsh but I wouldn't buy a car that I wasn't 100% happy on, especially a new car but it seems you have learned the hard way. Hopefully you can work something out.0 -
Well 20% of the price went straight to HM Customs and Excise so there is your starting point.0

live with it, and learn next time you buy a car, for you not to get hit in the pocket will be around 3-4 years time when you can trade with no negative0
