Car damaged by HGV
Hi all I am looking for some advice. Last week whilst driving on the M4 I was driving down my lane whilst a lorry was driving along the lane next to me. All of a sudden he came into my lane, pushing my car out into the right hand lane (luckily there was no car in it at the time). I had a witness in my car but he didn't…

Low emissions parking, how to benefit?
My local council offers a low emissions parking permit, but the proof of the low emissions has to be a g/km figure from the V5C, which because my car was 1st registered in 1995, I cant show Is there anywhere I can prove my vehicle has sufficiently low emissions?

PCP price change after deposit paid
Hi, Agreed to a PCP contract the other day and they just phoned to tell me they missed off some charges for delivery and tax which has now added on an extra 700 and changed monthly payments a bit. My question is should I try and argue/haggle the change as I had actually agreed on the original amount and put my deposit down…

New car- good deal? Has anyone got better?
I'm looking to buy a new car on finance. I am looking for an ibiza ecomotive, vauxhall Astra/corsa, ford focus or Volkswagen golf! I just wanted some other people's experience about deals they've had on the above. I've spoken to vauxhall and this is the 'best' they can do on 0% finance: Corsa £1000 deposit £179 a month for…

Falling tree on my car , is anybody liable ?
I was driving to work , minding my own business, on a local A road, when a huge section of a roadside tree snapped off and fell directly onto my car. The car (a less than year old Audi A5) suffered damage which has now been assessed as four thousand pounds worth, new wing, bonnet, screen, front grille, lots of paint. I…

Start Rescue (roadside recovery)
I'm about to renew my breakdown cover, and through a comparison website I've seen that this company does a cover half the price of my current one. My only question is: are they reliable? I have not had any problems with my car, but it's 10 years old and sooner or later I will, and I don't want to be left on the side of the…

Additional accidental damage excess amounts for young or inexperienced drivers
I'm 45 and held a licence for almost 30 years now, but last year was the first time in a few years that I've insured my own car. I used the comparison sites and went with Asda as it was the cheapest. I received the renewal notice today and it reminded me to check up on this bit, with three cash figures Additional…

Sunday 4 August A30 Devon traffic at standstill
Yesterday I was travelling eastbound on the A30 in Devon at around 1.30pm. The traffic was at first slow moving and 4 fire engines rushed past me near the Honiton turning, heading eastbound on the A30. They were followed by 3 ambulances and a number of unmarked cars, all with flashing lights. Between the A35 turning and…

Getting a new theory test certificate
Not exactly money saving as such but I passed my theory test in April 2012 and have been learning to drive since. I got married in October last year and I've updated my license to my married name. I am due to book my test in the next couple of weeks but I haven't got my theory test certificate anymore. My new name doesn't…

Best place to advertise to sell a car?
Hi all, When I've sold cars in the past, I've always put them in the Autotrader, but sadly they don't print the magazine anymore - the only option is to advertise on the website. I realise everything is moving online these days, but I still liked the option of buying the mag to scan through... Anyway, to advertise on the…

AA continuous payment arrangement
I have just returned from holiday to find that the AA had claimed this years membership from my debit card as part of a continuous payment arrangement. Apparently I signed up for this when setting up online last year. There is no way I would knowingly agree to such an arrangement so can't see how this could have happened.…
