Winter Tyre Test Video

Very good. I watched the video below around 4 months ago and it convinced me to buy some winter tyres which I will be fitting ready to test out this winter

That won't go down well with the car manufacturers, every winter they push their 4x4's as being able to handle the winter weather, every year I roll my eyes as more stupid people buy 4x4s and/or come on here asking which is 4x4 is best.“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”

This might actually be the ideal time to buy - before the Daily Mail start posting stories about the worst winter of all time is due.0 -

I know a guy who works for a large car company. He is one of the drivers who is actually driving the car, and drifting it around corners, on programs like Top Gear. And as soon as winter weather comes they change all the tyres on the press cars (around 200 cars), to winter tyres.
I asked his about all season tyres, and he said don't bother. He said for general use summer tyres, but if you can afford a second set, then get a set of winter tyres, as the difference is huge.
So the manufacturers already know this.
Obviously in this country we often get wet summers, and we can't really change tyres on a daily basis. Now I can't afford two sets of tyres, but the best summer tyres I have ever found for grip in the wet are the ones I have at the moment (Goodyear Efficient Grip).0 -

Oh I know they know it, but they take advantage of British ignorance, stupidity and mostly hearsay to sell Chelsea tractors to school run mums.
I think it's dangerous because as soon as the snow comes down they're driving around at double their normal speeds, putting peoples lives at risk.
There was one not long ago on TV (I think it was the documentary style show following breakdown services during the winter), some woman comes down country lane in 4x4 on bald summer tyres, flips the car on it's roof and stops just short of somebodies living room. It really bugged me that they didn't elaborate on why it'd happened and instead started praising 4x4s.
Same show, a older gent drove his Range Rover down his garden to get fire wood (I know, bonkers) and then got stuck half way up on muddy grass, no mention was made of the sports/summer tyre's fitted to it.“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”

Also good when the road is cold AND wet, of course0 -
After holding out for the price to finally drop low, I've just ordered a set of winter tyres for my spare wheels. Gone for the Cooper Weather Master SA2 for £50 a corner.
For once I'm actually looking forward to cold weather.0
