New Used Car - a week after concerns

Hi

Last week I purchased a 11 plate Fiesta. Which was very rushed and now thinking about it was probably down to their month end. I purchased the car through Evans Halshaw.

It was meant to get serviced and the valeted before i got the car, however apparently as it just got serviced in May they done a safety check on the car.

Last Thursday for the first time i tried to use the windscreen wash, for it to be empty. I was angry about this as in my opinion if the car had been serviced or check before it left the forecourt this would have been noticed. I emailed the the sale person that dealt with me for her to say the car had been serviced at their other garage and that the air conditioning had been re-charged. All weekend i've tried to use the air con without any lucky, yesterday i got the instruction book out and tried again for the air con not to work. I feel like screaming and let down.

I also feel that if these things are wrong what else is wrong with the car.

Where do i stand?

Have you been back to the supplying dealer and complained about the issues yet?

If it'd been just the washer reservoir that was empty I'd say fill it up yourself and don't worry about it. As the aircon doesn't appear to be working either I'd take it back to them and ask them if they'll look at it for you to see why it doesn't work (and while it's in ask them to fill the reservoir).

Was the air conditioning working when you test drove the car?

    OK. lets break this down...

    1) Aircon - 'tbh I test drove that many cars i don't know if that one did or it didn't'. Well that's your issue immediately as you have a duty to check these things. However it should be under warranty and it may have been something very simple if it was indeed serviced.

    2) 'Last Thursday for the first time I tried to use the windscreen wash for it to be empty'. Really? you are annoyed at that?

Call the garage about the aircon, speak to them as well as following it up with an email. By being nice to these people you are far more likely to get somewhere...

Expecting Evans Halshaw will do anything beyond taking your money is your first mistake.

... check that your windscreen wash isn't leaking water. Has the feeder tube come undone? Easily fixed from a pet shop.

Ask to see the safety check list if they thought that would substitute for a service. If the check w/screen reservoir box exists/is ticked, then the rest of the safety check list is !!!!!!!! too. If they can't be bothered to do the obvious, what else couldn't they be bothered with?
Get it back and complain. The a/c could be something that sucks every penny of profit out of the deal for them.

I think a re-gas is only usually covered for the first 12 months on most cars.
And that my son, is how to waft a towel!
