Returning a used BMW
Hi, I was wondering if anyone can help me before I try to return my car for a refund. I brought a used BMW 1 series from a main dealer in November, a 58 plate. Almost straight away the car was leaking oil, this problem has now been persisting after going in for repair 3 times. It has most recently been in for repair a week…

How thick are Budget Car Insurance?
Recently cancelled a policy with them and they told me they could only provide refund when I returned insurance certificate. Umm, I told them, I have no physical policy it was all done online - I can view it on there. No - still need it back. OK, I'll print it out and send it back. Looked online now and its not there…

Car Tax refund blunder?
I'll cut to the chase here.. I renewed my car tax online last month to commence 1/2/13 and got my new disc shortly afterwards. In a moment of 'saving money' madness I decided that I'll 'SORN' the car instead to save some money so returned the disc on 30/01/13 for a refund. However, now realise that this was a bit hasty so…

Headlamp bulbs fitted by Halfords.
My headlight bulbs (dip setting) both expired recently, so I got the two of them replaced at Halfords. For convenience I paid extra for one of their staff to fit them. The very next day the car went through the MoT and failed because the dipped headlamp beam on both sides is so out of kilter. So, IMO, Halfords staff…

Bus Lane Fine
I drove in a bus lane a few days ago and only realised when it was too late. I'm expecting to be fined as it has cameras down there but I drive a vehicle registered in Spain so it will be months until I get there to check the post. Can I ring up the council or someone to find out whether I have any tickets? Also is it just…

Breakdown and Accident Recovery
Does anyone know of a breakdown company that will actually come out and recover your vehicle in the event of an accident? The AA, RAC, Green Flag - in fact just about all the companies won't. If you have cover with them and think they will as part of that cover, trust me, they won't. If you still think they do, ring them…

Has the DVLA accidentally given me a bike licence?
Just had my licence back as I've changed address. I've previously read about people having categories added or disappearing during this process and wonder if its happened to me. Before I explain I should say that the photocard format has changed slightly again due to some EU nonsense. My card licence now says the…

Very sad....
A friend has an old BMW 5 series (W reg) auto which is immaculate and luxurious and drives perfectly. It is still a fantastic car, but is virtually worthless given its age and petrol consumption. £700 is all it seems to be worth. The price of petrol is killing off these old cars and it is sad to see a pretty good car now…

Toyota Yaris handbrake
How much (roughly) would I be charged for a handbrake repair on a 02 Yaris. I think it just needs tightening up but I don't really want to take something apart so vital! (and don'r underestimate my hopelessness at all things practical) Thanks

Need to get rid of car on finance within one month
Hi My boyfriend bought a car on finance about half a year/nine months ago. However, we have since had problems with our flat and want to move to a flat that is closer to work for both of us. When we move, we will need to pay more rent (our flat was cheap), and won't be able to afford the car, but since we will be close to…

Used 4x4 (or maybe not..) - 3-5K Budget
Hi All! I am looking to replace my aging car. I have to do a fair bit of travel. I drove my friends Nissan Pathfinder and honestly was amazed at how the difference the 'high up' seating and general 'having a lot of car around you' made the journey fun again (I'm old). I'm looking to buy a car with a high driving position…
