Hi, I need to update my breakdown cover but Im a bit wary. Has anyone else had this problem?
I have recently had breakdown cover with 'Firstcall'. I rang for assistance on a bank holiday evening. I rang for help but they informed me I was only allowed one call out for help. Meaning, I could have help to be towed somewhere to have my car fixed. I explained it was an evening on a bank holiday weekend so there was nowhere open. They told me i could have a call out now to get me home but wouldnt be able to call them again to take my car from home to the garage when it was open.
I totally understand that you cant call for assistance more than once if you havnt bothered to get the problem fixed. The thing is what if its out of working hours? Basically I would have to leave my car in a supermarket car park Saturday night through to Tuesday when the garages were open and find my own transport home and then back again on Tuesday morning to pick car up.
Are all breakdown covers the same as this?:(

No. The more you pay the better standard of cover you will receive.0

You could have had the car towed to your local garage. I assume this would be a short walk/bus/taxi journey from your home. The car would be left on their forecourt and you would have gone there the following day to arrange repair.
I don't know of any other breakdown company who would have arranged things better.0 -
I'm pretty sure the RAC 'full' cover would have either taken the car into storage, or home, then done a follow on call to the garage next working day - as swiftnick says - you need 'comprehensive' cover to do this though0
